　扨与き御馬哉と大名小名残ら須誉け連は
　扨は出頭人にふ残志たかふと思ひてそ古にて
　逆心を企て世を奪ひ取た里といふ事聞
　及たりばかといふ字を其世より馬鹿とは書たる
　様に申来るる也当世は
　主君之御た免には危き世かなと上下共に心
　中には思ふ斗にて色にも出春事ならさ里け
　り

現代語訳

さて良い御馬ですなと大名小名残らず誉めたところ、
さては出頭人に振る舞いをしたがうと思って、そこにて
逆心を企て世を奪い取ったりという事を聞き
及んだりということを、その世より馬鹿とは書いた
ように申し来たるのである。当世は
主君のお為には危き世かなと上下共に心
中には思うばかりにて、色にも出すことではないのであ
る。

英語訳

"What a fine horse!" all the daimyo and minor lords praised it without exception. Then, thinking that they should follow the lead of this prominent person, they plotted rebellion there and attempted to seize the world. It is said that from that time, the word "baka" (fool) came to be written as such. In these present times, both high and low think in their hearts "What a dangerous world this is for our lord's sake," but they do not show such thoughts outwardly.
