　鑓を御合候則女袖之木綿物着候而下に居脇
　差抔を多く手裏釼に打候得共高く打候故
　此方江中り不申候十蔵殿鑓済候後佐太夫十
　蔵殿之手を取味方之内江三足押込御退候得
　与申若軍者之申事に候故誘引不被致候退
　給ひ候得与申時立花左近殿ゟ御付候幸妻才
　兵衛与尤与申引退申候扨本丸塀に腰を掛け
　手前足軽に鉄炮為放見物高名仕首を取候
　者共何茂十蔵殿前へ持参る十蔵殿佐太夫
　に御見せ候得彼者口さき次第小屋に而證拠を御

　出し可有之由被仰ゟ佐太夫方江持参候鞘に名
　名字を堀付候又佐太夫申候者づ迄も見物被
　成度可尽之候得共主水殿鑓之刻限遅成候不
　苦事に候哉与申候得者十蔵殿御聞届け主水殿
　同道に而伊豆守殿前江御越候蓮池際江御出候節
　十蔵殿を捕江今日者珍敷事に逢候得共手を婦
　さき申候故何も高名茂不仕残念に存候由申候
　得者其方なとは何を申そいか程之高名尓倍
　多類事に不入を申物哉与被仰候故左様に思
　召候者々不苦与申候御供申候而伊豆守殿前へ罷

槍を合わせられた。すると女性の袖のような木綿物を着て下におり、脇
差などを多く手裏剣として投げつけたが、高く投げたため
こちらには当たらなかった。十蔵殿が槍を終えた後、佐太夫が十
蔵殿の手を取り、味方の内へ三歩押し込んでお退きになった
と申す若い軍者の申すことであったので、誘引はなされず退
かれたと申した時、立花左近殿からお付きの幸妻才
兵衛ともっともだと申して引き退いた。さて本丸の塀に腰をかけ、
手前の足軽に鉄砲を撃たせて見物し、高名を仕して首を取った
者どもは皆十蔵殿の前へ持参した。十蔵殿が佐太夫
にお見せになったところ、彼の者は口先次第で小屋において証拠をお

出しになるはずだと仰せられたので、佐太夫方へ持参した。鞘に名前と
名字を彫り付けた。また佐太夫が申すには、いつまでも見物を
なさりたいところであるが、主水殿の槍の刻限が遅くなっても
差し支えないでしょうかと申したところ、十蔵殿がお聞き届けになり、主水殿と
同道にて伊豆守殿の前へお越しになった。蓮池の際へお出になった節、
十蔵殿を捕まえて「今日は珍しいことに遭ったが、手負い
をさせたので何も高名もできず残念に思う」旨を申した
ところ、「そなたなどは何を申すのか。いかほどの高名にも倍
する類のことで、不要なことを申すものかな」と仰せられたので、「そのように思
召されるのであれば差し支えない」と申し、お供申して伊豆守殿の前へ参った

They engaged with spears. Then [the Christians], wearing cotton garments like women's sleeves, came down below and threw many wakizashi (short swords) and other weapons like shuriken, but since they threw them high, they did not hit our side. After Jūkura-dono finished with his spear, Sadayū took Jūkura-dono's hand and pushed three steps into our allies' ranks before withdrawing. A young warrior reported this, so no pursuit was undertaken, and when they withdrew, Tachibana Sakon-dono's attendant Kōzuma Saibei said this was reasonable, and they retreated. Then, sitting on the wall of the main compound, they had their foot soldiers fire guns for observation, and those who achieved military distinction by taking heads all brought them before Jūkura-dono. When Jūkura-dono showed them to Sadayū, he said that depending on what that person claimed, evidence should be presented in the hut.

So they were brought to Sadayū's place. Names and family names were carved into the scabbards. Furthermore, Sadayū said that although he would like to continue observing indefinitely, he wondered if it would be acceptable for Mondo-dono's spear engagement time to be delayed. Jūkura-dono acknowledged this, and went with Mondo-dono before Izu-no-kami-dono. When they went out to the lotus pond area, someone grabbed Jūkura-dono and said, "Today I encountered something unusual, but since I was wounded, I could not achieve any military distinction, which I find regrettable." [Jūkura-dono] replied, "What are you saying? This surpasses any military achievement many times over - why do you speak of unnecessary things?" So [the person] said, "If that is how you think of it, then it is acceptable," and accompanied him before Izu-no-kami-dono.
