して享和三亥年二十四五歳に見得ける人也人品にして愛（アイ）能仁徳
を行ふ人のよふすに唱候也
一帝王の屋形之内に珍敷人物鳥獣何によらす変（ヘン）なる形の物を
臓腑（ゾウフ）をぬき酒に五日程 漬（ツケ）て其後又天日に干かため候得は何百年
置候ても朽（クチ）る事なきよしにて色々の物数をしらすかさり置也
其内にも珍物ものは二面の人也
一日月は遥（ハルカ）南に見得北極星は天窓の上より南に寄てみ見ゆる也
しかれは最上の北国と見得ける也
一帝王の遊覧として風船を拵ひける其風船は丸みさし渡四間
程に骨組をして其上に紙なるか絹（キヌ）のやうなる物を張り糸
弐本に船を結ひ付其船へ弐人乗り下より登る事はるか上に見へ烏（カラス）の
程に見得ける時風に不構何方なりとも思ふ方へ飛行く也帝王より
被仰付候所へ飛行は褒美（ホウビ）を被下けるよし也里数はしらす
候得とも風船に乗候もの四日路程遠く行て帰りけると也私とも
長崎へ着いたし逗留中ヲロシヤ人風船の骨組をして上に紙を張り
拵候間私とも四人其風船の様なる物は日本にては厳敷（キビシク）御停止（ヂヤウヂ）也
御役所へ伺不申候ては上る事不叶といふ其品御役所へ伺けれは椛（ナグサ）み
なれは不苦と仰有けるゆへかの風船にわらびを焚（タキ）き烟（ケムリ）を多く入
て上けれは船の掛り居候所より陸の町家まて里数壱里半ほとも

享和三年（1803年）亥年に二十四、五歳に見えた人である。人品が良く、慈愛に満ち、仁徳を行う人のようだと言われている。
一、帝王の屋敷の内には珍しい人物や鳥獣など、何であろうと変わった形の物を、内臓を抜いて酒に五日程漬け、その後また天日に干して固めると、何百年置いても腐ることがないということで、色々な物を数知れず蓄えている。その中でも珍しい物は二つの顔を持つ人である。
一、太陽と月は遥か南に見え、北極星は天頂の上から南に寄って見える。したがって最も北の国だと思われる。
一、帝王の遊覧として気球を作った。その気球は丸く、差し渡し四間程に骨組みをして、その上に紙か絹のような物を張り、糸二本で船を結び付け、その船へ二人乗り、下から登ること遥か上に見え、烏ほどに見えた時、風に関係なくどの方向でも思う方へ飛んで行く。帝王から命じられた所へ飛んで行けば褒美をもらえるということである。距離は分からないが、気球に乗った者が四日路程遠くまで行って帰って来たということである。私どもが長崎へ着いて逗留中、ロシア人が気球の骨組みをして上に紙を張って作ったが、私ども四人は、その気球のような物は日本では厳しく禁止されており、御役所にお伺いしなければ上げることはできないと言った。その件を御役所にお伺いしたところ、慰みであれば構わないと仰せになったので、かの気球に蕨を焚いて煙を多く入れて上げたところ、船の係留している所から陸の町家まで距離一里半ほどもあろうと思う家の屋根へ落ちたので、煙は大変多く立ち上ったので町家の

In the year Kyōwa 3 (1803), the year of the boar, he appeared to be twenty-four or twenty-five years old. He was said to be a person of good character, full of compassion, and one who practiced benevolent virtue.
1. Inside the emperor's residence, there were rare human figures, birds and beasts, and things of strange forms of all kinds. By removing their internal organs, soaking them in sake for about five days, and then drying them in the sun to harden them, they would not rot even if kept for hundreds of years. Various objects were stored there in countless numbers. Among them, the most curious thing was a person with two faces.
1. The sun and moon appear far to the south, and the North Star appears tilted southward from overhead. Therefore, this appears to be the northernmost country.
1. As entertainment for the emperor, they made a balloon. This balloon was round, with a framework spanning about four ken (approximately 7.2 meters), covered with paper or silk-like material, with a basket attached by two strings. Two people would ride in the basket, and when it rose so high from below that it appeared as small as a crow, it could fly in any direction regardless of the wind. It was said that if one flew to a place designated by the emperor, one would receive a reward. Though we do not know the exact distance, those who rode the balloon traveled as far as a four-day journey and returned. When we arrived at Nagasaki and were staying there, Russians constructed a balloon framework and covered it with paper. We four said that such balloon-like objects were strictly prohibited in Japan, and one could not launch them without permission from the government office. So we burned bracken in that balloon to fill it with much smoke and launched it.
