一此所へ同年九月三日に着此国に馬なく鹿を馬の様に用ゆる也形は
日本の鹿より大きなる物也角は弐本あれ共角に小枝多く付又枝え
枝か付也人も乗り荷物駄送等する也毛色赤黒白の色有り
同所を四月九日に出船す海上道法千九百里余南アメリカへ走る也
此 海真中頃にてヲロシヤ国の船頭の噺に此所は世界（セガイ）三国の
真中なりとて其日船中酒肴にて祝義致候也
一南アメリカ惣銘也 天竺（テンヂク）之内也
一アメリカの内エカテレナといふ所へ着す此所は船着きの湊也此所の
人真黒なり男は象股引（ゾウモヽヒキ）の様なる物を着し腰ゟ上ははたか
也しかし間にははたきはんてん抔の様成る物を寄り〳〵着す者も有り
女は腰巻の様に致腰に計ひだを取り裾（スソ）ひろがり也人にあう逢ふてかた
はたをぬぐを礼とする国也天窓はラホツ也上に登る事妙なり
此国 暖（ダン）国にて夏計有冬なしゆへに米大豆小豆諸の雑穀（ゾウゴク）熟（みのり）り沢山に
有国也水車にて昼夜 搗（ツグ）也書諸木の実（ミノリ）一ヶ年に弐度三度迄みのる
唐からしは三度 植（ウイ）て植る度毎になる事にあらす壱度植れは
三度花咲みのるといへり日本の茶の木のことし又此国いかなる
事にや米多有国なれとも唐きみを粉にしてねりて常に喰也
家作は石作も有り材木作りも有屋根は桜の皮也言葉も別也雨戸
せうじ一円なし此所に釈迦牟尼仏衆上西土修行候成年久敷
居給ふ所也といふ又此所を釈尊の誕生（タンジヤウ）なされたる所成共云ふ也
現代語訳
一、この場所に同年九月三日に到着した。この国には馬がなく、鹿を馬のように使用している。形は日本の鹿より大きい。角は二本あるが、角に小枝が多く付いており、またその枝にも枝が付いている。人も乗り、荷物の運搬なども行う。毛色は赤、黒、白の色がある。
同所を四月九日に出船した。海上の距離は千九百里余りで、南アメリカへ向かった。
この海の真ん中あたりで、ロシア国の船頭の話によると、この場所は世界三国の真ん中であるとのことで、その日船中で酒肴をもって祝いを行った。
一、南アメリカは総称である。天竺の内である。
一、アメリカの内のエカテレナという所に到着した。この場所は船着きの港である。この場所の人は真っ黒である。男は股引のような物を着て、腰から上は裸である。しかし中には羽織半纏などのような物を時々着る者もいる。
女は腰巻のように腰だけにひだを取り、裾が広がっている。人に会うと肩を叩いて脱ぐのを礼とする国である。頭はラホツ（剃髪）である。上に登ることが巧みである。
この国は暖国で夏ばかりがあり冬がないため、米・大豆・小豆・諸々の雑穀が実り、たくさんある国である。水車で昼夜搗いている。また諸木の実は一年に二度三度まで実る。
唐辛子は三度植えるが、植える度毎に実るのではなく、一度植えれば三度花が咲き実ると言う。日本の茶の木のようである。またこの国はどういうわけか米の多い国であるにもかかわらず、とうもろこしを粉にして練って常に食べている。
家造りは石造りもあり材木造りもある。屋根は桜の皮である。言葉も別である。雨戸・障子は一切ない。この場所に釈迦牟尼仏が衆生救済のため西土で修行された、年久しく居られた所であると言う。またこの場所を釈尊が誕生された所であるとも言う。
英語訳
We arrived at this place on September 3rd of the same year. This country has no horses, but uses deer like horses. They are larger in form than Japanese deer. They have two antlers, but the antlers have many small branches attached, and branches are attached to those branches as well. People ride them and use them to transport goods. Their coat colors include red, black, and white.
We departed from this place on April 9th. The distance across the sea was over 1,900 ri, heading toward South America.
In the middle of this sea, according to the story of the Russian ship captain, this place is the center of the world's three countries, so on that day we celebrated aboard ship with sake and food.
South America is a general name. It is within Tenjiku (India).
We arrived at a place called Ekaterena within America. This place is a port for ships to dock. The people of this place are jet black. Men wear something like loose trousers, and from the waist up they are naked. However, some occasionally wear something like a haori jacket or happi coat.
Women arrange pleats only around their waist like a loincloth, with the hem spreading out. In this country, when meeting people, the custom is to tap the shoulder and remove [clothing] as a greeting. Their heads are shaved (rahotsu). They are skilled at climbing upward.
This country is a warm nation with only summer and no winter, so rice, soybeans, red beans, and various grains ripen abundantly. They pound grain day and night with water mills. Also, the fruits of various trees ripen two to three times per year.
Hot peppers are planted three times, but they don't bear fruit each time they're planted; rather, if planted once, they bloom and bear fruit three times, like Japanese tea plants. Also, although this country has abundant rice for some reason, they constantly eat corn ground into flour and kneaded.
House construction includes both stone buildings and timber buildings. Roofs are made of cherry bark. The language is also different. There are no rain shutters or shoji screens at all. They say this place is where Shakyamuni Buddha practiced in the western lands for the salvation of all beings, where he resided for many years. They also say this place is where the Buddha was born.
