昼過より暑気になりて夕陽に及ふとはや冷気すさ
ましく綿入をも着する程に覚ゆ此暑気とても久し
からすして其儘冷気に移るなり江戸に比して暑を
見れは四季ひとしからす春秋冬三気国とも云へき

finally taking on the appearance of spring. The local people do not even wear unlined summer garments, but people from other regions find that lined and single-layer garments suit the weather. Even during the summer solstice period there are no signs of great heat, and though there are times in late seventh month when one feels particularly hot weather, it is not so hot all day as to be unbearable. It becomes hot from past noon until evening, but when the evening sun comes the cold air is already fierce enough that one feels like wearing padded clothing. Even this hot weather does not last long before transitioning directly to cold air. Compared to Edo's heat, the four seasons are not uniform - one could call this a land of three seasons: spring, autumn, and winter.
