とても以前のようには夥しく掘ることはできない。シャクシャインはシビシャリという所のアイヌで強力な者であったため、東西の近くのアイヌたちを手下につけて松前に敵対した。処置が延引している間に勢力が強大になり、三年にわたって戦われた。元文元年まで七十年である。総じて東蝦夷は強力で、ややもすれば松前の威を軽んじた。キイタップ、アッケシ、クンヌリのあたりは特に取り扱いが難しく、一昨年もキイタップで面倒な事件があり、去年は商船の運航が中止された。
一 東海にオキナという魚がいる。その大きさがどれほどかは分からないが、鯨を呑むと言われている。春夏は南へ出て、秋からは北海へ帰る。
