又鹿の皮をも着しあるにまかセたる体なるは寒暑散
て覚へさる故なり散し髪にてかふりものなく既に
して平生は帯をセす食物は海より上れハ敢て蓄積

より喰ふ一食なり形象一眉深目長鬢にして惣身
熊のことくなる毛生たり何れの国より習伝たるにや耳
かねをし又はち巻をセりうち見には制強に見ゆれとも
又多力なるもなし日本人と角力さセるにみな腰より
まけて勝者なし腕と頭に力ありて重き荷物を
額へあてものをして負へり性甚た酒と多葉粉を好み

One: Women cut their hair short all around like being bald. They are fair-skinned and wear earrings. When marriage arrangements are settled, tattooing the lips and hands is an ancient custom. Around the lips they create various patterns as they please, like netting or wild geese formations. Therefore, having many characters on the hands seems to be a source of pride. They wear belts over their attushi, hang strings of blue beads like rosaries from their collars, and also wear something called shitoki - mirror-like objects with cords attached - on their chests.
