これより槍術（風傳流）を菅沼傳一郎に学び、免許より中書に至る
一 文久三年癸亥年（1863年）三月二十日、三好万右衛門名跡養子に仰せ付けられ、高三十俵三人扶持を下され、御番方の順序を仰せ付けられる
一 同年 月 日、殿坂東側跡において家屋敷を下される
当時文武出精の者新規召出しとなるべきところ、ご都合により旧絶家相続を仰せ付けられる
一 同年四月十八日、御広間御番入を仰せ付けられる
一 同年七月二十八日、西方出火の節、臨時場所へ出向き大儀であるとお思し召しにより、お吸い物とお酒を下される

From this time, he studied spear technique (Fūden-ryū) under Suganuma Den'ichirō, advancing from license to chūsho rank.
1. Third year of Bunkyū, Kinoto-I year (1863), third month, 20th day: He was appointed as adopted heir to the Miyoshi Manemon family name, granted a stipend of thirty hyō and provisions for three retainers, and appointed to the guard duty rotation.

At this time, those excelling in literary and military arts should have been newly recruited, but due to circumstances, he was appointed to continue an extinct family line.
