女の風俗はひろき袖にてすそながくおびといふものなし
こはぜにてあちこちとめたるもの也もやうは
うつくしきそめ色あり又うすものに
五しきのいときんじなどにて
さま〴〵のくさばななどぬひたるも
あり女はこしへたまのかざりを
ながくさげること有又冬といへども
此方のなつのごとくさむさをしらぬ
くにゆゑきぬにわたを入れると
いふことなし男の
いふくはおほよそ
もろこしにひとし
こゝにかけるはあんず
などいふくらゐの人也れいき
たゞしきくにぶりにして
うかれめになじみてあそびに
ゆくにもいくわんをたゞして

現代語訳
女性の服装は広い袖で裾が長く、帯というものはない。
こはぜで各所を留めているものである。模様は
美しい染色がある。また薄物に
五色の糸、金糸などで
様々な草花などを縫い付けたもの
もある。女性は腰に玉の飾りを
長く下げることがある。また冬といっても
こちらの夏のように寒さを知らない
国なので着物に綿を入れるという
ことはない。男性の
衣服はおおよそ
中国に似ている。
ここに描かれているのは按司
などという位の人である。礼儀
正しい国風にして、
遊女に馴染んで遊びに
行くにも威儀を正して
赴くことである。揚屋を
「ふるべや」という。
踊りをすることを
「めんことぐり」という。

Women's clothing has wide sleeves with long hems, and there is no such thing as an obi (sash).
They are fastened here and there with kohaze (metal clasps). The patterns
