　川越中守鍋島信濃守有馬玄蕃頭登城
　於御白書院掃部頭大炊頭讃岐守豊後守
　被申渡之其意趣は明日九州島原へ井上築
　後守被差遣之旨委被伝　上意之趣也
島原表幷豊後府内ゟ注進之状大阪定番衆
　ゟ次飛脚に而届之極晩に重而到来

現代語訳

川越中守、鍋島信濃守、有馬玄蕃頭が登城し、御白書院において掃部頭、大炊頭、讃岐守、豊後守から申し渡しを受けた。その意趣は、明日九州島原へ井上筑後守を派遣するという旨を詳しく伝えるという上意の趣旨であった。

島原表並びに豊後府内からの注進の書状が、大阪定番衆から次の飛脚によって届けられ、極めて遅い時刻に重ねて到来した。

英語訳

Hosokawa Etchū-no-kami, Nabeshima Shinano-no-kami, and Arima Genba-no-kami ascended to the castle and received instructions at the O-hakushoin (White Study Hall) from Kamon-no-kami, Ōi-no-kami, Sanuki-no-kami, and Bungo-no-kami. The purport was to convey in detail the shogun's intention to dispatch Inoue Chikugo-no-kami to Shimabara in Kyūshū the following day.

Urgent reports from the Shimabara front and from Funai in Bungo were delivered by relay couriers from the Osaka garrison guards, arriving very late at night in succession.
