　仕寄番松平伊豆守命使者番之家人岩上

　諸手之仕寄後分け六番且加平例之士一人令修

寺沢譜曰正月六日上使之指図に与里堅高兵を
　引ひて島原に赴き諸将与同しく陣屋を構へ
　城を責む

現代語訳

松平伊豆守島原陣の覚えに曰く、正月六日・七日の両日に小屋どもが出来上がった。

勇功記に曰く、正月六日にまた御書付が出された。その趣旨は以下の通り：
　　　　覚え
　一、山々に火を付けてはならないこと
　一、合言葉は「山か」、答えは「川」と申すべきこと
　一、仕寄せ（攻撃用の土木工事）下の場所の件について、名前を付けて仕上げるべきこと
　一、陣所の前の柵のこと
　一、小屋替えのこと

松平甲斐守輝綱の天草日記に曰く、六日に諸手（各部隊）の仕寄せ番を調べるため、松平伊豆守が使者番の家人である岩上角之助、酒井三十郎、長谷川源右衛門、奥村権之丞、片山弥五左衛門、小泉彦右衛門に命じて、昼夜を問わず諸手の仕寄せを見回らせた。後に六番に分け、かつ平例の士一人を修行させた。

寺沢譜に曰く、正月六日に上使の指図により、与力・足軽の精鋭部隊を率いて島原に向かい、諸将と同じく陣屋を構えて城を攻めた。

英語訳

According to the records of Matsudaira Izu-no-kami's Shimabara campaign, on the 6th and 7th days of the first month, the huts were completed.

The Yūkōki (Record of Brave Deeds) states that on the 6th day of the first month, another official notice was issued. Its contents were as follows:

　一、Do not set fires in the mountains
　一、The password shall be "yama ka" (mountain?), and the response shall be "kawa" (river)
　一、Regarding the matter of the lower areas of the siege works, they should be named and completed
　一、Regarding the palisades in front of the camp positions
　一、Regarding the replacement of huts

According to the Amakusa Diary of Matsudaira Kai-no-kami Teritsuna, on the 6th day, in order to inspect the siege work shifts of all forces, Matsudaira Izu-no-kami ordered the messenger-duty retainers Iwagami Kakunosuke, Sakai Sanjūrō, Hasegawa Gen'emon, Okumura Gonnosuke, Katayama Yagozaemon, and Koizumi Hikoemon to patrol all the siege works day and night. Later, they were divided into six shifts, and one regular samurai was assigned to undergo training.

According to the Terazawa Chronicles, on the 6th day of the first month, following the shogunal envoy's instructions, [Terazawa] led elite troops of yoriki and ashigaru to Shimabara, where he established a camp alongside the other generals and attacked the castle.
