　くを覚居申候可仕候哉手伝を被渡候得と
　片岡石川を以申込候得者武田家ゟ出候老

現代語訳

火薬筒を持っているが、使用してもよろしいでしょうか、手伝いをお渡しいただけるでしょうかと片岡・石川を通じて申し込んだところ、武田家から出た老練な功労者が申し伝えたことであり、茂右衛門が申すことなので、その意に任せて申し付け、大勢で手伝いをかけて製作した。さて城中に投げ込んだが、火の回りが悪いため、まだ火が移らないうちに敵から味方へ投げ返され、何の役にも立たなかった。

一、兵庫頭殿が有馬へ、天草から正月十日に移られた際の人数。天草へ前後に渡った人数残らず、その外の侍大将の賄料は以下の通り。並河三郎兵衛

英語訳

He possessed explosive devices and requested through Kataoka and Ishikawa whether he might use them and whether assistance could be provided. Since this was transmitted by a veteran meritorious retainer from the Takeda house and was Shigemon's proposal, permission was granted according to his wishes, and many hands were assigned to help manufacture them. However, when thrown into the castle, the fire spread poorly, and before the flames could take hold, the enemy threw them back at our forces, rendering them completely useless.
