一揆有馬古城取去楯籠候に付去る朔日責
之砌北三之丸着塀下白昼以鎗無比類働

現代語訳
しかし御目付衆が配置されているためである。参府もあり、それによって原の城下へ来た信綱は怒って「このような時節に府内にいるべきことではない。早々に帰るべきだ」と申したけれども、「こちらへ来た以上は召し命令がなくては立ち去り難い」と言って、信綱の前へは出ず引きこもってしまい、ついに奉書が到来して府内へ帰ったという。
九日癸酉
『松平甲斐守輝綱天草日記』に曰く、九日に陣屋を西方の岡に移した。
『戸田家中所蔵天草陣之節書留』に曰く、正月九日に小屋掛けをした。
『天草軍記』に曰く、松倉長門守の家人で野村治右衛門と申す者が、正月朔日の城攻めで手柄を抜き武功があったので、御目付から一筆の感状を賜った。
「今度肥前国高久において島原吉利支丹一揆が有馬古城を取って立て籠もったため、去る朔日の攻撃の際、北三の丸着塀下で白昼に槍をもって比類なき働きをしたこと、感じ入るものである」

However, this was because inspectors (metsuke) had been stationed there. There was also attendance at the shogunal court (sanpu), and consequently Nobunaga who came to the castle town of Hara became angry, saying "During such times, one should not remain in Funai. You should return immediately." However, the other party said "Since I have come here, it would be difficult to depart without a summons," and refused to appear before Nobunaga, withdrawing instead. Finally, an official letter arrived and he returned to Funai.

According to "Lord Matsudaira Kainokami Teritsuna's Amakusa Diary": On the 9th, camp headquarters were moved to the hill on the western side.
According to "Records of the Amakusa Campaign Kept by the Toda Family Retainers": On January 9th, temporary huts were erected.
According to "Amakusa War Chronicle": A retainer of Lord Matsukura Nagatonokami named Nomura Jizaemon distinguished himself with military merit during the castle attack on New Year's Day, and therefore received a letter of commendation from the inspector.
"Recently, regarding the Shimabara Kirishitan uprising in Takaku, Hizen Province, where they seized Arima Old Castle and barricaded themselves, during the attack on the first day, beneath the fence of the northern third bailey, he fought with unparalleled skill using a spear in broad daylight, which was most admirable."
