又曰板倉主水儀石谷十蔵を頼て先手を望
　候得共内膳正無同心主水義は長門守備に加り
　攻入可申由被申渡則長門守は当所守護に而
　一揆蜂起之根本な連は明朔日是非討死か
　城をも攻取か有無之境を立候而可相働事に
　候左候はゝ主水一所に成里高名仕候而可然由
　被申渡候是又尤之由皆人申候
別本島原記曰極月丗日内膳十蔵惣手之者
　共呼集惣攻之談合之時鍋島家老安芸
　守に内膳被申は此城乗崩可申哉と被問安芸守

　申候は何も此地に罷越候程之者共一命を軽し候
　間御攻候得之由申候得共内膳殊外腹立し
　被申は大勢討死させ可申た免に而は無之城を
　乗破可申時節か各に尋申事に候むたひに諸
　人を殺可申との事に而は無之与被申安芸も御
　尤に奉存候我等誤を申候御攻候はゝ能候はんと申
　に付而元日之惣攻に究り申候
立花左近将監忠茂覚書曰極月晦日朝
　早々諸家之家老内膳殿へ御召候而明朔日
　城乗可被仰付候其分相心得候得と被仰候下々

現代語訳

また（天草軍記）によると、板倉主水は石谷十蔵に頼んで先手を希望したが、内膳正は同意せず、主水は長門守の備えに加わって攻め入るようにと申し渡された。長門守は当地の守護であり、一揆蜂起の根本である。明日元日はぜひとも討死するか城を攻め取るかの境目を決めて戦うべき時である。そうであるなら主水も一緒になって高名を上げるのが良いであろうと申し渡された。これももっともであると皆が申した。

別本島原記によると、極月三十日、内膳（正）・十蔵が総手の者どもを呼び集めて総攻撃の談合を行った時、鍋島家の家老安芸守に内膳が「この城を攻め崩すことができるでしょうか」と問うた。安芸守は

「皆この地に参った程の者どもは一命を軽んじておりますので、ご攻撃なされば（落とせる）」と申したが、内膳は殊の外腹を立てて「大勢討死させるためではない。城を攻め破ることができる時節かを各々に尋ねているのだ。むやみに諸人を殺すためのことではない」と申された。安芸も「ごもっともに存じます。私が誤りを申しました。ご攻撃なされば良いでしょう」と申したので、元日の総攻撃に決まった。

立花左近将監忠茂覚書によると、極月晦日の朝早々、諸家の家老を内膳殿へお召しになって「明日元日に城攻めを仰せ付けになる。その心づもりをしておくように」と仰せられた。下々

Also, according to (the Amakusa War Chronicle), Itakura Mino-no-kami requested through Ishitani Jūzō to serve as the vanguard, but Naizennokami did not agree. Instead, Mino-no-kami was ordered to join Nagato-no-kami's unit and participate in the assault. Nagato-no-kami was the guardian of this region, and (the rebels) were the root of the uprising. Tomorrow, New Year's Day, would be the crucial moment to either die in battle or capture the castle - they must fight with this determination. In that case, it would be appropriate for Mino-no-kami to join them and achieve military glory. Everyone agreed that this was reasonable.

According to the Separate Shimabara Chronicle, on the 30th day of the last month, Naizen(nokami) and Jūzō called together all the troops to hold a war council for the general assault. During this meeting, Naizen asked Aki-no-kami, a chief retainer of the Nabeshima family, "Can we capture this castle by storm?" Aki-no-kami replied,

"All those who have come to this place take their lives lightly, so if you attack (it can be taken)." However, Naizen became extremely angry and said, "This is not about getting many people killed in battle. I am asking each of you whether this is the right time to storm the castle. This is not about killing people indiscriminately." Aki also said, "You are absolutely right. I misspoke. If you attack, it would be good," and so the general assault on New Year's Day was decided.

According to the memorandum of Tachibana Sakon-Shōgen Tadashige, early in the morning of New Year's Eve of the last month, the chief retainers of various houses were summoned to Lord Naizen's presence, and he said, "Tomorrow, New Year's Day, you will be ordered to attack the castle.
