　　さ理右衛門と申者大将に而我等家を取巻焼
　　打可申と致し候を色々詫事いたしの加連
　　又同廿八日に所之者右之者と同前に又をし寄
　　せ人質取候て右之仕合扨々迷惑申候
　一御屏風共出來申候は皆々我々蔵に入置候を能
　　怒里候てかき物致し召置候間御せんさくにて
　　御取可被成候
　一御絵之具数多御座候は壺に入れ山に堀込召

　一多賀主水　　置候御屏風下地も数多能立右同前に入置
　　候殿御頼候屏風も加ら免右蔵へ入候て
　　御座候横山清左衛門殿御頼候も同前
　一絵図御寺之からの香爐箱御座候を山に堀
　　込志るしに石を置申候不思議之仕合に而け
　　様にと里古被成迷惑仕候我々事は人質両
　　人迄とられ候得は心之内御春ひもし可被成
　　候伝兵衛内に居申候はゝ可然様頼申候

現代語訳

さ理右衛門と申す者が大将となって、我等の家を取り囲み焼き討ちしようとしたところ、色々と詫び事をして難を逃れました。また同じ二十八日に、所の者が右の者と同様に、また押し寄せて人質を取るという仕合で、まことに迷惑いたしております。

一、御屏風類ができあがっておりますのは、皆々我々の蔵に入れ置いておりましたが、よく怒って掻き物をして召し置かれておりますので、御詮索によってお取りになることができるでしょう。

一、御絵具が数多ございますのは、壺に入れて山に掘り込んで

一、多賀主水殿がお頼みの屏風も唐から免じて右の蔵へ入れてございます。横山清左衛門殿がお頼みのものも同様です。置いてあります屏風の下地も数多よく立て、右と同様に入れ置いております。

一、絵図、御寺の唐の香炉箱がございますのを山に掘り込み、印に石を置き申しました。不思議な仕合いでこのようになり、古くから迷惑いたしております。我々のことは人質を両人まで取られましたので、心の内をお察し下さるべきです。伝兵衛の内にいますならば、しかるべきように頼み申します。

A man named Sariemon became the leader and tried to surround our house and burn it down, but we escaped the danger by making various apologies. Also on the same 28th day, the local people, like the aforementioned person, again pressed forward and took hostages - what a troublesome situation this has been.

Item: Regarding the folding screens that have been completed - we had placed them all in our storehouse, but they became very angry and made scratch marks on them before taking them away, so you should be able to retrieve them through investigation.

Item: The numerous painting pigments are placed in jars and buried in the mountain...

Item: The folding screens requested by Taga Monto-dono have also been imported from China and placed in the right storehouse. Those requested by Yokoyama Seizaemon-dono are the same. The numerous screen foundations that are stored are well-prepared and placed in the same manner.

Item: Picture scrolls and incense burner boxes from China belonging to the temple have been buried in the mountain with stones placed as markers. Due to this strange turn of events, we have long been troubled. As for us, since two people have been taken as hostages, please understand what is in our hearts. If you are staying at Dembei's place, please make appropriate arrangements.
