　たる鞍置乗出候処に諸勢引色々見ゆる間真
　先に進みて駈出んと春る時伊達遠江守秀宗
　之使者梶田権兵衛与云者《割書：此所本書｜落字在之》内膳正返
　答に者神妙に被申人哉我は先駈を好に阿ら
　須諸陣を廻見して先駈之下知春へきと
　思ふ也汝は夫に扣て様子次第に仕連と云捨
　松倉か陣所に断而有馬勢先陣を駈そ古
　なひ候上は貴方は早々真先江被駈入候得与云
　長門守申様今朝未明ゟ塀下へ着罷在候へ共

　鉄炮厳鋪候而中々難乗込候只今我にも見合
　罷在候間貴殿茂御見合被成可然事之由令返
　答不退出候内膳正令腹立候而長州は此乱
　之当人な連は諸陣与同様見合候事如何に候
　後難茂笑止候間今日被精出諸軍を抽て被先

頭形の兜をかぶり、大きな半月形の腰差しを帯び、黒い馬に紋入りの鞍を置いて乗り出したところ、諸勢が引き揚げる様子が見えたため、真っ先に進んで駆け出そうとしたとき、伊達遠江守秀宗の使者・梶田権兵衛という者が（この箇所は原本に脱字がある）内膳正への返答には、「神妙に申される方ですな。私は先駆けを好むわけではなく、諸陣を廻って見て、先駆けの下知をすべきと思う。あなたはそこで控えて、様子次第に取り計らいなさい」と言い捨て、松倉の陣所に赴いて断り、「有馬勢の先陣が駆け出さなかった上は、貴方は早々に真っ先に駆け入られよ」と言った。
長門守の申し様は、「今朝未明から塀下へ着いておりましたが、鉄砲が激しくとても乗り込むことができません。ただ今我らも様子見をしておりますゆえ、貴殿もご様子見なされるのがよろしいでしょう」と返答し、退出しなかった。内膳正は腹を立て、「長州はこの乱の当事者であるからには、諸陣と同様に様子見しているとはいかがなものか。後の非難も恥ずかしいことゆえ、今日は精を出して諸軍の先に抜きんでて先駆けなさるのがよろしい」と下知したが、長門守はあえて進まなかった。
それより内膳正は岸田三郎右衛門を使いとして有馬兵部太輔の方へ遣わし、「貴陣の今朝の働きが見苦しく見えます。早々にまた攻め入るように」と申し遣わしたところ、兵部太輔の返答には、「迷惑な使いでございます。今朝
