　刻不残引取申候
万世家譜《割書：石谷｜十蔵》曰正月朔日未明に諸手押寄城ゟ鉄
　炮鑓打出諸手に夥敷手負討死有之引退申候
　内膳正十蔵塀に付可乗入与存候へ共鉄炮烈敷
　石を放て両人之鎗折内膳正鉄炮に中り戦死
　仕十蔵茂鉄炮に中石に打連甲冑損し指物は
　強候所無之破連申候板倉主水佐父討死に而
　家来大勢討死仕手負も多く弔軍仕度存念
　に候得共残兵纔に付加勢を諸手へ申達候得
　共何茂手多く城攻再難成に付不及力相止申候

　此夜城中ゟ夜討可仕かと存十蔵手疵をなし
　諸手に陣を四度廻り申候江戸へ罷帰候以後十
　蔵甲冑指物被遊　上覧候
又曰元日諸手討死手負夥有之に付細川越中
　守松平右衛門佐松平大隅守江加勢之人数早々
　被指出候様に申達候趣鑓飛脚を以
兵家茶話曰石谷十蔵島原一揆之節者御目
　付に而戦場を働くる正月元日板倉内膳正
　討死子息主膳十蔵江頼被申は今朝内膳正
　討死之節同し具討死春へき所に手に逢はさ

現代語訳

刻（午後2時頃）に残らず引き取り申した。

『万世家譜』（石谷十蔵）に曰く、正月元日の未明に諸手が押し寄せ、城から鉄砲や槍を打ち出し、諸手に夥しく手負いや討死があり、引き退いた。内膳正と十蔵は塀に取り付いて乗り入ろうと思ったが、鉄砲が激しく、石を投げられて二人の槍が折れ、内膳正は鉄砲に当たって戦死した。十蔵も鉄砲に当たり、石に打たれて甲冑は損し、指物も丈夫な所は無く、破れてしまった。板倉主水佐の父が討死し、家来も大勢討死し、手負いも多く、弔い合戦をしたいと思ったが、残兵がわずかなので、加勢を諸手へ申し伝えたが、どこも手が多く、城攻めが再び難しいので、力及ばず中止した。

この夜、城中から夜討ちがあるかもしれないと思い、十蔵は手傷をおして、諸手の陣を四度回った。江戸へ帰った後、十蔵の甲冑と指物を上覧に供した。

また曰く、元日に諸手に討死・手負いが夥しくあったので、細川越中守、松平右衛門佐、松平大隅守へ加勢の人数を早々に差し出すよう申し伝えた旨を、槍飛脚をもって（伝えた）。

『兵家茶話』に曰く、石谷十蔵は島原一揆の節は御目付として戦場で働いた。正月元日、板倉内膳正が討死し、子息主膳が十蔵へ頼んで申したのは「今朝内膳正が討死の節、同じく討死すべき所に、手に遭わず

The *Bansei Kafu* (Genealogy of Ten Thousand Generations) states regarding [Ishigaya] Jūzō: At dawn on New Year's Day, various forces pressed forward, and muskets and spears were fired from the castle, causing numerous wounded and dead among all forces, who then retreated. Naizen-no-shō and Jūzō intended to scale and enter over the walls, but the musket fire was intense, stones were thrown, both men's spears were broken, Naizen-no-shō was hit by a musket ball and died in battle. Jūzō was also hit by musket fire and struck by stones, his armor was damaged, and his identification banner had no strong parts left and was completely torn. Lord Itakura Mizu-no-suke's father died in battle, many of his retainers also died in battle, and there were many wounded. Though he wished to conduct a revenge battle, since the remaining soldiers were few, he requested reinforcements from various forces, but as all forces had suffered heavy casualties and a renewed castle assault was difficult, he was forced to abandon the effort.

That night, thinking there might be a night attack from within the castle, Jūzō, despite his wounds, made four rounds of the various encampments. After returning to Edo, Jūzō's armor and identification banner were presented for imperial inspection.

It also states: Since there were numerous dead and wounded among all forces on New Year's Day, word was sent via mounted messenger that reinforcements should be quickly dispatched to Lords Hosokawa Etchū-no-kami, Matsudaira Uemon-no-suke, and Matsudaira Ōsumi-no-kami.

The *Heika Chawa* (Military Tea Talk) states: Ishigaya Jūzō served as an inspector (*ometsuke*) and fought on the battlefield during the Shimabara Rebellion. On New Year's Day, when Itakura Naizen-no-shō died in battle, his son Shuzen appealed to Jūzō: "This morning when Naizen-no-shō died in battle, I should have died alongside him, but I did not encounter the enemy..."
