　見に希連は忠郷螺を立よと下知有り螺之者
　如何し多りけん然に貝を吹得さり希連者甚
　気色有り然処に先手之昇旗塀下に吹を忠郷
　見給て当乎之御目付松平甚三郎殿林丹波守
　殿牧野伝蔵殿江那須八兵衛を御使として此
　方之昇塀下へ付候を御覧可有与被仰遣八兵
　衛後陣に馳帰り松平甚三郎殿へ口上を申け
　連は被仰越迄も無く三人共に慥に見届け一
　段見事に候との返答也彼旗奉行松田作兵衛
　昇を城中へ投入続て乗らんとする処に城兵

　昇を投返し希連は松田元来健者に而弐度迄
　旗を投入け連共終に鉄炮に当りて倒しを林
　蔵といふ小草履取欠付て松田を引起しける
　か又鉄砲打つらぬ加れ主従同枕に臥す駒田
　弥左衛門与有馬内記家人加藤伝介城中江乗
　込希連共敵両人を終突伏せ弐人之鎧を剥取
　下著斗になして死骸を城外へ投出す堀江市
　郎兵衛《割書：後号杢｜右衛門》塀之上に乗りけるか彼突落
　して創を承る斯かしかは有馬内記同監物吉
　田隼人稲次鍋之介土田主殿等諸勢を可励た

現代語訳

見えたので、忠郷は「螺貝を吹き立てよ」と命令した。しかし螺貝を吹く者がどうしたことか、うまく貝を吹くことができなかった。忠郷は甚だしく不機嫌になった。そうしているうちに、先手の軍旗が塀の下に翻るのを忠郷が見て、当番の御目付である松平甚三郎殿、林丹波守殿、牧野伝蔵殿のもとへ那須八兵衛を使者として派遣し、「こちら側の軍旗が塀の下に到達したのをご覧いただきたい」と伝言させた。八兵衛が後陣に駆け戻って松平甚三郎殿に口上を申し上げたところ、「仰せいただくまでもなく、三人とも確かに見届けており、一段と見事でございます」との返答であった。

その旗奉行松田作兵衛は軍旗を城中へ投げ入れ、続いて自らも乗り込もうとしたところ、城兵が軍旗を投げ返してきた。忠郷は「松田は元来勇猛な者である」と評価した。松田は二度まで旗を投げ入れたが、ついに鉄砲に当たって倒れてしまった。林蔵という小姓が駆けつけて松田を引き起こそうとしたが、また鉄砲で撃ち抜かれ、主従同じ枕に臥すこととなった。

駒田弥左衛門と有馬内記の家臣加藤伝介が城中に乗り込み、敵二人をついに突き伏せ、二人の鎧を剥ぎ取って下着だけにして死骸を城外へ投げ出した。堀江市郎兵衛（後に杢右衛門と号す）が塀の上に上ったが、突き落とされて傷を負った。このような状況の中、有馬内記、同監物、吉田隼人、稲次鍋之介、土田主殿等が諸勢を励まそうとした。

A page named Rinzo rushed to help Matsuda up, but was also shot through, and master and servant lay side by side.

Komada Yazaemon and Kato Densuke, a retainer of Arima Naiki, charged into the castle, finally striking down two enemies, stripped their armor, leaving only their undergarments, and threw the corpses outside the castle. Horie Ichiroubei (later known as Mokuemon) climbed onto the walls but was knocked down and wounded. In this situation, Arima Naiki, the same Kenbutsu, Yoshida Hayato, Inatsugi Nabenosuke, Tsuchida Shuden, and others tried to encourage their forces.
