　目付中諸手江軍士を立給ひ板倉内膳殿手所
　重〆被卒去る石谷十蔵殿松平甚三郎殿両人
　共手を負被申上江面々速に囲を解るへしと
　也忠郷茂然者他之勢退散之後当手之人数を
　上給んとて暫遅滞せらるゝ内に他家之軍勢
　引払し加者忠郷行列を調て営中江打入給ふ
　今朝城を取巻し時も久留米勢は相図之石火
　矢与等く責懸り他家之軍勢は暫遅かりし尓
　依て敵其急成方を救んゐに味方附之手先は
　不及云に三之丸出丸左右ゟ厳敷鉄炮を打懸

　る此故に当家之死傷他家に倍す爰を以按春
　る尓城攻之令切な連といへ共此日忠郷之一
　手に於ては魁首後藤之誉有と春扁し其後忠
　郷本庄八太夫を召て今日之様子太守豊氏江
　注進之ゐ田尻次郎右衛門を明日江戸へか登　
　手負死人を改て可書出与被仰則八太夫諸物
　頭を召集め死傷する者之名字越記す

目付中が諸手へ軍士を派遣し、板倉内膳殿の手傷が重篤で、先に退去された石谷十蔵殿、松平甚三郎殿の両人とも手を負われたので、上江の面々は速やかに包囲を解くべしということであった。忠郷も「それならば他の勢が退散した後、当手の人数を上げよう」として暫く遅滞していたところ、他家の軍勢が引き払ったので、忠郷は行列を整えて営中へ打ち入った。今朝城を取り巻いた時も、久留米勢は合図の石火矢とともに攻めかかったが、他家の軍勢は暫く遅れていたため、敵がその急を要する方を救おうとして、味方の先手はもちろん、三の丸の出丸左右から厳しく鉄砲を撃ちかけてきた。

この故に当家の死傷者は他家の倍となった。ここから考えるに、城攻めの令は切迫していたとはいえ、この日の忠郷の一手においては先駆けの誉れがあると思われる。その後忠郷は本庄八太夫を召して「今日の様子を太守豊氏へ注進するため、田尻次郎右衛門を明日江戸へ上らせる。手負いや死人を改めて書き出すように」と仰せられた。すぐに八太夫は諸物頭を召し集め、死傷した者の名字を記した。

The inspectors (metsuke) dispatched soldiers to various units, and since Itakura Naizen's wounds were severe, and both Ishitani Jūzō and Matsudaira Jinzaburō, who had withdrawn earlier, were also wounded, it was decided that the forces at Kamie should quickly lift the siege. Tadashige also said, "In that case, let us advance our forces after the other troops have retreated," and delayed for a while. During this time, the military forces of other domains withdrew, so Tadashige organized his formation and entered the camp. When they surrounded the castle this morning, the Kurume forces attacked together with the signal rockets (ishihi-ya), but the military forces of other domains were somewhat delayed. Consequently, when the enemy tried to rescue that urgent position, our allied vanguard forces, not to mention the forces from both sides of the Sannomaru's detached fortifications, fired their muskets severely.

For this reason, our domain's casualties were double those of other domains. Considering this, although the order for the castle attack was urgent, it seems that Tadashige's unit had the honor of being the vanguard on this day. Afterward, Tadashige summoned Honjō Hachidayū and said, "To report today's situation to Lord Toyouji, Tajiri Jirō'emon will go up to Edo tomorrow. Examine the wounded and dead and prepare a written report." Immediately, Hachidayū gathered all the unit commanders and recorded the names of those who were killed or wounded:
