　　極月廿二日之貴札拝見申候
　　公方様去る廿日に御表江　出仰被為城
　　御機嫌残所無御座之旨被仰聞城以目出
　　度奉存候
　一去る九日ゟ十二日迄御注進申上候状参着仕御
　　披見被成候由其後毎日御注進申上候間定而参
　　着可仕と奉存候
　一細川越中守寺沢兵庫頭人数舩手可申付之

　　由被仰下候先日不申上候舩手之儀最前ゟ越中
　　守者供申付候兵庫頭人数之儀は領分に而御座候
　　間爰元落着まて彼地へ罷在候様に与申付候
　一昨日注進申上候通当城相替儀無御座候爰元之
　　人数弥痛申たると相見へ申候併仕寄いまた無
　　油断申付候
　一爰元之人数少々に而者可不参候と存候間朔
　　日御注進申上候通松平大隅守細川越中守

曽我又左衛門様

島原記に記載

極月二十二日の貴信を拝見いたしました。
将軍様が去る二十日に御表へお出になり、御機嫌に残すところなくご満足の旨を仰せ聞かされ、まことにめでたく存じ上げます。

一、去る九日から十二日まで御注進申し上げた書状が到着し、ご覧になったとのこと、その後毎日御注進申し上げておりますので、きっと到着することと存じます。

一、細川越中守、寺沢兵庫頭の人数に船手を申し付けるべき旨を仰せ下されました。先日申し上げなかった船手の件ですが、最初から越中守には船を申し付けております。兵庫頭の人数の件は領分のことでありますので、こちらが落ち着くまでかの地に留まるよう申し付けました。

一、昨日注進申し上げた通り、当城に変わったことはございません。こちらの人数はますます疲弊しているように見えます。しかし攻城作業はまだ油断なく申し付けております。

一、こちらの人数が少々では参らないと存じますので、朔日に御注進申し上げた通り、松平大隅守、細川越中守、松平右衛門佐の人数を差し越すようにと家老衆の方まで申し遣わしました。

I have respectfully read your esteemed letter of the 22nd day of the last month.
The Shogun went out to the front on the 20th, and we were told that His Lordship was in excellent spirits with nothing left to be desired, which I find most auspicious.

First, the reports I submitted from the 9th to the 12th have arrived and been reviewed. Since I have been submitting daily reports thereafter, I believe they must certainly be arriving.

Second, you have ordered that naval forces be assigned to the troops of Hosokawa Etchū-no-kami and Terasawa Hyōgo-no-kami. Regarding the naval forces I did not mention the other day, I have assigned ships to Etchū-no-kami from the beginning. As for Hyōgo-no-kami's troops, since it concerns his domain, I have ordered them to remain in that area until the situation here is settled.

Third, as I reported yesterday, there is nothing unusual about this castle. Our forces appear to be increasingly exhausted. However, I continue to direct the siege operations without letting down our guard.

Fourth, since I believe that our current number of troops here is insufficient, as I reported on the first day, I have sent word to the senior retainers requesting that troops from Matsudaira Ōsumi-no-kami, Hosokawa Etchū-no-kami, and Matsudaira Uemon-no-suke be dispatched.
