　者はし下知仕候得共終に三十（塀際に）間と進み申者も
　無御座候其内者や内膳正討死十蔵は一所
　に而殊之外石に而打連其上鉄砲手負被申候
　故内之者先引取申候我等儀は内に両人松倉
　長門守後詰いたし候處に松倉先手之者打立
　られ者与〳〵崩れ懸り申候を跡ゟ無理に押
　立候得は松倉所へ五六度使立後詰仕候得と申
　候得共弥逃崩連申候而我等者共先へ参候へと
　其侭足軽何も先手共塀へひし〳〵と付申候而
　少々手負討死仕候我等まとひ之奉行申付

　候加藤源左衛門も打死申候有馬玄蕃人数も皆
　逃崩連申候得共我等者共壱人も小者共迄一
　足も志さりふ申候左様に御座候得共城ゟ殊
　之外石を投鉄砲多打申候故小勢なとにて中
　々乗取連候儀に而無御座候間見合候得共一手と
　つゝき申人数無御座候間不及是非候塀ゟ三
　十間斗も引取罷在候弥惣人数も引取申候故　
　十蔵方ゟ使を以引取候へと被申越候条先小屋
　へ引取申候我等義は右之仕合に而内膳討死場所
　違其上討死仕候をも引取漸々得承無念

しかし、ついに三十間（塀際まで）も進む者はおりませんでした。その間に、早や内膳正が討死し、十蔵は同じ場所で非常に石で打たれ、その上鉄砲で負傷いたしました。そのため、内の者たちはまず引き取りました。私どもは内で両人、松倉長門守が後詰をいたしましたところ、松倉の先手の者たちが打ち立てられ、次々と崩れかかりましたのを、後ろから無理に押し立てましたが、松倉のところへ五六度使いを立てて後詰をするようにと申しましたが、いよいよ逃げ崩れ申しまして、私ども二人が先へ参りますと、そのまま足軽なども先手とともに塀にぴったりと付き申しまして、少々手負い討死いたしました。私どもの纏の奉行を申し付けました

加藤源左衛門も打死申しました。有馬玄蕃の人数も皆逃げ崩れ申しましたが、私ども二人は小者どもまで一足も退がりませんでした。そのような状況でございましたが、城から非常に石を投げ、鉄砲を多く撃ち申すので、小勢などでは到底乗り取ることはできませんので見合わせましたが、一手と続く人数がございませんので、やむを得ず、塀から三十間ほども引き取って留まっております。ついに総人数も引き取り申したので、十蔵の方から使いをもって引き取るようにと申し越されましたので、まず小屋へ引き取り申しました。私どもは右の次第で、内膳が討死した場所は違いますし、その上討死したのをも引き取ることがやっと承知でき、無念であります。

However, in the end there was no one who advanced even thirty ken (to the base of the wall). During this time, Naizen-no-shō was already killed in action, and Jūzō was severely struck by stones in the same place and was also wounded by gunfire. For this reason, those inside first withdrew. We two were inside when Matsukura Nagato-no-kami provided rear support, but when Matsukura's front-line troops were beaten back and began to collapse one after another, we forcibly pushed them forward from behind. We sent messengers to Matsukura's position five or six times telling them to provide rear support, but they increasingly fled in disorder. When we two went forward, the foot soldiers and others pressed close against the wall together with the front troops, and there were some casualties and deaths. We appointed supervision of our battle standards.

Katō Genzaemon was also killed in action. All of Arima Genba's forces fled in disorder as well, but we two, down to our servants, did not retreat even one step. Though the situation was such, the castle threw stones fiercely and fired many guns, so it was impossible to capture it with such small forces. We considered our options, but since there were no forces continuing as one unit, we had no choice but to withdraw about thirty ken from the wall and remain there. Eventually all the forces also withdrew, so Jūzō sent word through a messenger that we should withdraw, and so we first withdrew to the temporary shelter. Given these circumstances, the place where Naizen was killed in action was different, and moreover, we could barely manage to retrieve those who had died in battle - it is deeply regrettable.
