同席中江直廻状太田摂津守江格手紙其外

一日光 御名代被 仰付候ニ付先格之通日光御門主
其外日光奉行上野在山役者衆出家中
元光院并日光道中中田房川御関所
支配御代官江以使者為知旁頼遣候事

一七半時過出宅ニ而御用番松平伊豆守殿江日光廿日

一例之通対客之間廊下ニ扣居無程伊豆守殿出席

御名代被 仰付候御礼申上左之伺書進達候
尤上包者取り致懐中伺書計指出伊豆守殿
現代語訳
その旨により、この度はそれに従い、若年寄井伊兵部殿が
服中であるが廻った。伊賀守にも話し合い、同様に相勤めした
ことは尤もで、大目付桑原豫洲にきちんと話し置いた。
一、年寄衆列座にて伊豆守殿より御渡しされた御書付一通
左の通り
日光二十日の御名代 土屋但馬守
代り 松平伊賀守
右の通り仰せ付けられる
右の御書付の写し一通を代りの松平伊賀守へ差し遣わした。
一、年寄衆・若年寄衆へ御礼のため廻った。尤も玄関にて
申し置いた。
一、帰宅は九つ半時過ぎ
一、昨夕、年寄衆連名の奉書が御用番伊豆殿より
到来した。今日登城した処、日光二十日御名代を仰せ付けられた段を、当勤の
同席中へ直廻状、太田摂津守へは格手紙、その外
病気・幼少・在郷の衆へは下廻状を差し出した。
一、日光御名代を仰せ付けられたので、先格の通り日光御門主
その外日光奉行・上野在山役者衆・出家中・
元光院並びに日光道中中田房川御関所
支配御代官へ使者をもって知らせ方々へ頼み遣わした。
三日
一、八つ半（午前三時）四分前に起床
一、七つ半時（午前四時）過ぎに出宅して御用番松平伊豆守殿へ日光二十日
御名代を仰せ付けられた御礼のため対客へ罷り越した（服装：袷に麻上下）
一、例の通り対客の間廊下に控えていると間もなく伊豆守殿が出席
したので罷り出て、日光二十日の
御名代を仰せ付けられた御礼を申し上げ、左の伺書を進達した。
尤も上包は取って懐中し、伺書のみを指し出すと伊豆守殿は

For this reason, this time following this guidance, although Young Elder Ii Hyobu-dono was
in mourning, I made the rounds. I also consulted with Iga-no-kami and served similarly.
This was quite appropriate, and I properly informed Grand Inspector Kuwahara Yoshu.
One: The document handed over by Izumi-no-kami with the senior councilors seated in rows, one copy
as follows:
Nikko 20th day Imperial Proxy Tsuchiya Tajima-no-kami
Substitute Matsudaira Iga-no-kami
Appointed as above
A copy of the above document was sent to substitute Matsudaira Iga-no-kami.
One: I made courtesy calls to the senior councilors and young elders to express gratitude. These were
conducted at their entrance halls.
One: Returned home past nine and a half o'clock
One: Last evening, an official letter signed by the senior councilors arrived from duty magistrate Izumi-dono.
Today when I went to the castle, regarding the appointment as Nikko 20th day imperial proxy, I sent direct circulars to my current colleagues, a formal letter to Ota Settsu-no-kami, and
lower-level circulars to those who were ill, young, or in their domains.
One: Having been appointed as Nikko imperial proxy, following precedent I sent messengers to inform the Nikko gate master,
other Nikko magistrates, Kozuke province mountain officials, monks,
Genko-in temple, and the deputy governors controlling Nakata and Bokawa checkpoints
along the Nikko road, requesting their cooperation.
Third day
One: Rose at a quarter to eight and a half (3 AM)
One: Past seven and a half o'clock (4 AM), I left home and went to see duty magistrate Matsudaira Izumi-no-kami to express gratitude for being appointed as Nikko 20th day
imperial proxy (dressed in lined silk garments with hemp formal wear)
One: As usual, I waited in the corridor of the reception room, and soon Izumi-no-kami appeared
for the meeting, so I went out and expressed gratitude for being appointed as Nikko 20th day
imperial proxy, and submitted the following inquiry document.
I removed the outer wrapper and kept it in my sleeve, presenting only the inquiry document, and Izumi-no-kami
