断ニ付直罷出御門主弥御安泰ㇶ成御座乍恐珍重之御儀
奉存候旅宿為御尋御使ㇶ成下秣一種ヒ下置仕合奉存候
御受之儀宜申上可ヒ下と申述少上り自分致挨拶ヒ帰候
節玄関敷臺迄送
一客来相済入湯清メ候而熨斗目半袴着用九半時前出宅
御本坊江参上御門外石坂下ニ而下乗夫ゟ御玄関二者執頭龍王 院御留守居法門院御用人抔敷臺迄出迎按内有之
鳥渡致会釈刀を提候而御座敷江罷通刀座敷外二差置執頭御 留守居ㇶ出候間口上左之通申述
於江戸表
公方様 右大将様益御機嫌能ㇶ成御座候年寄衆
伝言有之旨申述私義今度廿日
御名代被 仰付 御宮
御霊屋自分拝礼伺之通相済難有奉存候且唯今ㇵ
到着仕候ニ付以御使一種拝受仕其上明日ㇵ御料理
可ヒ下旨蒙仰忝仕合奉存候と申述御逢之節之御
座敷唯今之内内見仕度旨相頼両人同道ニ而照尊院も
参り御座敷内見御逢之次第承り元御座敷江帰座
但照尊院二付直同人案内ニ而御入側二
刀差置扇子も同所ニ取御座敷江御門主御出座御留守居会釈ニ 而罷出御敷居際ニ而中座御門主御会釈有之上之間御敷居内二

存候旨申述退去溜座敷通執当御留守居及挨拶罷
帰出迎之通送有之刀ハ下座敷ニ而差退去
一夫ゟ 御宮江罷越二王門外石坂下ニ而下乗是ゟ内ㇵ用人
留守居駕籠脇押草履取計召連二天門邊江照尊院幷院代出迎居 按内二王門内唐銅左之方ニ而手水遣陽明門雁木坂下ニ而草履
者起替是ゟ内用人留守居刀番両人召連罷越同所御門外ニ而
刀取刀番二為持諸事其外共照尊院致差引候明日自弥之節之
次第大楽院手代之僧幷社人出居承合置候夫ゟ
御宮内拝見いたし以前之通退去 御霊屋為内見罷
現代語訳
断りがあったので直ちに退出した。御門主がいよいよ御安泰でいらっしゃることは恐れながら珍重の御儀と存じ上げる。旅宿のお尋ねとして御使いを遣わし下され、御菓子を下し置かれる仕合わせと存じ上げる。御受けの儀よろしく申し上げ下さるべきと申し述べ、少し上座に上がり自分で挨拶した。帰る節は玄関の敷台まで送られた。
一、客来が相済んでから入湯して身を清め、熨斗目半袴を着用し、九つ半時前に出立して御本坊へ参上した。御門外の石坂下で下乗し、それから御玄関には執頭龍王院、御留守居法門院、御用人などが敷台まで出迎えて案内があった。少し会釈をして刀を提げて御座敷へ参り通り、刀を座敷の外に差し置き、執頭・御留守居が出てきたので、口上を左の通り申し述べた。
江戸表において、
公方様、右大将様がますます御機嫌よく過ごされている旨、年寄衆の伝言がある旨を申し述べた。私は今度二十日に御名代を仰せ付けられ、御宮・御霊屋への自分拝礼について伺いの通り相済んで有り難く存じ上げる。且つただ今到着いたしたので、御使いをもって御菓子を拝受し、その上明日御料理を下される旨仰せを蒙り、忝い仕合わせと存じ上げると申し述べた。御対面の節の御座敷を只今のうちに内見したい旨を相談し、両人同道で照尊院も参り、御座敷を内見し、御対面の次第を承って、元の御座敷へ帰座した。
但し照尊院について、直ちに同人の案内で御入側に刀を差し置き、扇子も同所に置いて御座敷へ。御門主が御出座され、御留守居が会釈で退出し、御敷居際で中座し、御門主の御会釈があった後、上の間の御敷居内に入った。
公方様、右大将様がますます御機嫌よく過ごされている旨を申し上げ、御門主がいよいよ御安泰でいらっしゃることは恐れながら珍重の御儀と存じ上げる旨を申し上げた。御門主は同所で布の御挟帯と劔のまま御側へ進んで拝受し、元の席へ退いた。
執頭に向かい、先刻御使いをもって御菓子を拝受し、その上明日御料理を下される段仰せを蒙り、且つ参上したところ御対面を成し下され忝い仕合わせと存じ上げる旨を申し述べて退去した。溜座敷を通り、執頭・御留守居と挨拶を交わして帰った。出迎えの通り送りがあり、刀は下座敷で差し退去した。
一、それから御宮へ参った。二王門外の石坂下で下乗し、これより内は用人・留守居・駕籠脇・草履取ばかりを召し連れ、二天門辺りで照尊院並びに院代が出迎えており案内があった。二王門内の唐銅の左の方で手水を遣い、陽明門の雁木坂下で草履取を交替させた。これより内は用人・留守居・刀番両人を召し連れて参った。同所の御門外で刀を取り、刀番に持たせ、諸事その他とも照尊院が差配した。明日の式典の節の次第について大楽院の手代の僧並びに社人が出ており、承り合わせて置いた。それから御宮内を拝見し、以前の通り退去した。御霊屋を内見するため参り

Since there was a decline, I departed immediately. That the temple head continues in perfect peace is, though I say so humbly, a most precious matter. I am grateful that he sent a messenger to inquire about my travel lodgings and presented sweets. I stated that the matter of acceptance should be favorably reported, moved up slightly and personally gave greetings. When departing, I was escorted to the entrance platform.
1. After the visitors were finished, I bathed to purify myself, donned my ceremonial dress and hakama, and departed before nine-thirty to visit the main temple. I dismounted at the stone slope below the temple gate, then at the main entrance, Executive Head Ryūō-in, Caretaker Hōmon-in, stewards and others came out to greet me at the platform and provided guidance. I exchanged brief courtesies and proceeded to the reception room carrying my sword. I placed my sword outside the reception room, and when the executive head and caretaker appeared, I stated my message as follows:
At Edo,
I stated that the Shogun and the Right General continue in excellent health, and that there was a message from the elders. I was appointed as imperial representative on the twentieth day of this month, and my inquiry about personal worship at the main shrine and mausoleum has been completed as discussed, for which I am grateful. Moreover, having just arrived, I received sweets through your messenger, and furthermore I have been graciously informed that a meal will be provided tomorrow, which I consider a most gracious honor. I requested to inspect the reception room for tomorrow's audience while there was time, and accompanied by both men, Shōson-in also came to inspect the reception room. We learned the procedure for the audience and returned to the original reception room.
Note: Regarding Shōson-in, immediately under his guidance I placed my sword at the inner side, also placed my fan in the same location, and proceeded to the reception room. The temple head appeared, the caretaker withdrew with courtesies, I took a middle position at the threshold edge, and after the temple head's courtesies, I entered within the threshold of the upper room.
I reported that the Shogun and Right General continue in excellent health, and stated that the temple head's continued perfect peace is, though I say so humbly, a most precious matter. The temple head, remaining in the same place with his cloth sash and sword, approached his side to receive [the message] and withdrew to his original seat.
Addressing the executive head, I stated that I had received sweets through a messenger earlier, and furthermore had been graciously informed that a meal would be provided tomorrow, and moreover that having come to pay my respects, I was granted an audience, which I consider a most gracious honor, then withdrew. I passed through the waiting room, exchanged greetings with the executive head and caretaker, and departed. There was an escort as at the arrival, and I removed my sword in the lower reception room before departing.
1. From there I proceeded to the main shrine. I dismounted at the stone slope below the Niō Gate, and from this point inward I was accompanied only by stewards, caretakers, palanquin attendants, and sandal bearers. Near the Nitenmon Gate, Shōson-in and the deputy abbot were waiting to greet me and provided guidance. At the left side of the bronze work inside the Niō Gate, I performed ablutions, and at the bottom of the Yōmeimon Gate's wooden steps, the sandal bearers were replaced. From this point inward, I proceeded accompanied by stewards, caretakers, and both sword attendants. At the gate outside this location, I handed over my sword to be carried by the sword attendant, and Shōson-in managed all these and other matters. Regarding tomorrow's ceremony procedures, monks who were assistants from Dairakuin and shrine attendants were present, and I consulted with them in advance.
