 存候旨申述退去溜座敷通執當御留守居及挨拶罷帰  出迎之通送有之刀ㇵ下座敷ニ而差退去 一夫ゟ  御宮江罷越二王門外石坂下ニ而下乗是ゟ内ㇵ用人  用人留守居駕籠脇押草履取斗召連二天門邊江照尊院幷院代出 迎居案内二王門内唐銅左之方ニ而手水遣陽明門雁木坂下ニ而  草履者起替是ゟ内用人留守居刀番両人召連罷越同所御門外ニ 而刀取刀番二為持諸事其外共照尊院致差引候明日自弥之節之  次第大楽院手代之僧幷社人出居承合置候夫ゟ  御宮内拝見いたし以前之通退去  御霊屋為内見罷越  法花堂前ニ而下乗是又前之通万事宿坊差引御唐門内江  御別当龍光院出迎宿坊照尊院と両人ニ而明日之式抔申聞候間  承合置且奥之院  御名代之処者龍光院万事致差引呉候間拝見迄二も  不及旨申聞候ニ付不罷越候夫ゟ  御霊屋向拝見抔いたし  龍光院江も相応致挨拶照尊院同道ニ而退去 一本宮新宮江も参詣瀧之尾山も見物是又宿坊同道右相済宿坊  照尊院江罷越強飯之式申受料理抔出相済鉢石旅宿江七半時過 帰宅   但強飯中者手を突罷在候事且家来用人留守居医師相伴    同廿日 一明六時前出宅拝領之熨斗目袷大紋着用  御霊屋法花堂前ニ而下乗是ゟ用人留守居駕籠脇斗召連二王門 迄照尊院出迎居日光付同心も出按内いたし龍光院為待合罷越  日光奉行幷御付之御医師御目代もヒ居右之面々之向上座  床の間之脇二着座 一夫ゟ六ツ之鐘二而無間も御門主御登山  御霊屋江御入後按内有之照尊院案内ニ而  御霊屋江罷越用人留守居駕籠脇召連夜叉門雁木坂下ニ而  草履者起替右石段上二而刀取刀番二為持夫ゟ  御霊屋江入右之方手水出有之候間手水遣御唐門外右之  方ニ而括解キ御唐門内左右二奉行其外御付添之御医師  平伏不及会釈階を上り此節音楽始るまゑ之戸の内江入横二  向候儘鳥渡中礼右之方中之御翠簾之下御畳之上ニ着座   但御門主之御前中礼ニ不及 一御法事相始御門主御勤も有之御法事御式相済而御門主  御内陣江直入御焼香有之無間も龍光院自分着座之前へ  参り会釈有之同人先立二而御内陣江入其節音楽始る

(前ページからの続き) 存じ上げる旨を申し述べて退去し、溜座敷を通り執頭・御留守居と挨拶に及んで帰った。出迎えの通り送りがあり、刀は下座敷で差して退去した。 一、それから御宮へ参った。二王門外の石坂下で下乗し、これより内は用人・留守居・駕籠脇・草履取のみを召し連れ、二天門辺りで照尊院並びに院代が出迎えており案内があった。二王門内の唐銅の左の方で手水を遣い、陽明門の雁木坂下で草履取りを交替させた。これより内は用人・留守居・刀番両人を召し連れて参った。同所の御門外で刀を取り、刀番に持たせ、諸事その外とも照尊院が差配した。明日の自分の節の次第について、大楽院手代の僧並びに社人が出ており承り合わせて置いた。それから御宮内を拝見し、以前の通り退去した。 御霊屋の内見のため参り、法花堂前で下乗した。これもまた前の通り万事宿坊が差配し、御唐門内へ御別当龍光院が出迎えた。宿坊照尊院と両人で明日の式などを申し聞かせるので承り合わせて置いた。且つ奥之院については御名代のところは龍光院が万事差配してくれるので、拝見までには及ばない旨を申し聞かされたので参らなかった。それから御霊屋向きを拝見などし、龍光院へも相応に挨拶をし、照尊院同道で退去した。 一、本宮・新宮へも参詣し、瀧之尾山も見物した。これもまた宿坊が同道し、右が済んでから宿坊照尊院へ参り、強飯の式を申し受け、料理なども出て相済み、鉢石の旅宿へ七つ半時過ぎに帰宅した。  但し強飯中は手をついて在ることとする。且つ家来・用人・留守居・医師が相伴した。  同二十日 一、明け六つ時前に出宅し、拝領の熨斗目袷大紋を着用した。 御霊屋の法花堂前で下乗し、これより用人・留守居・駕籠脇のみを召し連れ、二王門まで照尊院が出迎えており、日光付同心も出て案内をした。龍光院が待合のため参り、日光奉行並びに御付の御医師・御目代も居り、右の面々の向こう上座、床の間の脇に着座した。 一、それから六つの鐘で間もなく御門主が御登山され、御霊屋へ御入りの後、案内があった。照尊院の案内で御霊屋へ参り、用人・留守居・駕籠脇を召し連れ、夜叉門の雁木坂下で草履取りを交替させた。右の石段上で刀を取り、刀番に持たせ、それから御霊屋へ入った。右の方に手水場があるので手水を遣い、御唐門外右の方で袴の括りを解いた。御唐門内左右に奉行その外御付添の御医師が平伏しており、会釈には及ばず階を上った。この節音楽が始まり、前の戸の内へ入り横を向いたまま少し中礼をし、右の方中の御翠簾の下、御畳の上に着座した。  但し御門主の御前では中礼には及ばない。 一、御法事が始まり、御門主の御勤めもあって、御法事の御式が相済んで御門主が御内陣へ直ちに入り御焼香があった。間もなく龍光院が自分の着座の前へ参り、会釈があって同人が先立って御内陣へ入り、その節音楽が始まった。

(Continued from previous page) I stated my gratitude and withdrew, passed through the waiting room, exchanged greetings with the executive head and caretaker, and returned home. There was an escort as when I arrived, and I put on my sword in the lower reception room before departing. 1. From there I proceeded to the main shrine. I dismounted at the stone slope outside the Niō Gate, and from this point forward took only stewards, caretakers, palanquin attendants, and sandal bearers. Near the Nitenmon Gate, Shōson-in and the deputy abbot were waiting to greet me and provided guidance. I performed ablutions at the bronze vessels to the left inside the Niō Gate, and changed sandal bearers at the bottom of the wooden steps of Yōmeimon Gate. From this point forward I took stewards, caretakers, and both sword bearers. At the gate outside this location, I removed my sword and had the sword bearer carry it, with Shōson-in managing all other arrangements. Regarding tomorrow's procedures for my personal ceremony, monks who were deputies of Dairakuin and shrine attendants were present and I confirmed arrangements with them. From there I viewed the interior of the main shrine and withdrew as before. I proceeded to inspect the interior of the mausoleum and dismounted in front of Hokkedō Hall. Again as before, the temple lodging managed everything, and at the inner Karamon Gate, Head Priest Ryūkō-in came out to greet me. Both the temple lodging Shōson-in and he explained tomorrow's ceremony, so I received their instructions. Regarding the inner sanctuary, I was told that since Ryūkō-in would manage everything for the imperial representative, there was no need even for inspection, so I did not proceed there. From there I inspected the mausoleum area and appropriately greeted Ryūkō-in, then withdrew in the company of Shōson-in. 1. I also visited the main shrine and new shrine, and toured Takinoo Mountain. Again the temple lodging accompanied me, and after this was completed, I proceeded to temple lodging Shōson-in, received the gōhan ceremony, was served a meal, and after this was finished, returned to my lodgings at Hachiishi after seven-thirty.  Note: During the gōhan ceremony, one must remain with hands placed [in respectful position]. Also, my retainers, stewards, caretakers, and physician were in attendance.  Same day, the 20th 1. Before six o'clock at dawn I departed, wearing the bestowed ceremonial court dress with family crest. I dismounted in front of Hokkedō Hall at the mausoleum, and from this point took only stewards, caretakers, and palanquin attendants. Shōson-in came out to greet me at the Niō Gate, and Nikkō-assigned officers also came out to provide guidance. Ryūkō-in came to wait, and the Nikkō magistrate as well as the attending physician and deputy were also present. I took a seat in the upper position facing these people, beside the alcove. 1. Then at the six o'clock bell, soon after the temple head climbed the mountain and entered the mausoleum, there was guidance. Following Shōson-in's guidance I proceeded to the mausoleum, taking stewards, caretakers, and palanquin attendants. I changed sandal bearers at the bottom of the wooden steps of Yasha Gate. At the top of the stone steps I removed my sword and had the sword bearer carry it, then entered the mausoleum. There was a purification basin on the right side, so I performed ablutions, then untied my hakama cords on the right side outside the Karamon Gate. Inside the Karamon Gate on the left and right, the magistrate and other attending physicians prostrated themselves - no greeting was necessary - and I ascended the stairs. At this point music began, I entered inside the front doors, remained facing sideways, briefly performed a middle bow, and took my seat on the tatami below the green bamboo blind on the right side in the center.  Note: No middle bow was necessary in the presence of the temple head. 1. The Buddhist service began with the temple head's officiating, and after the ceremonial service was completed, the temple head entered directly into the inner sanctuary and offered incense. Soon after, Ryūkō-in came before where I was seated, there was a greeting, and he led the way into the inner sanctuary, at which point music began.
