下ニ而草り者起替右石段上二而刀取刀番二為持夫ゟ
御霊屋江入右之方手水出有之候間手水遣御唐門外右之方
ニ而括解キ御唐門内左右二奉行其外御付添之御医師
平伏不及会釈階を上り此節音楽始るまゑ之戸の
内江入横二向候儘鳥渡中礼右之方中之御翠簾之下御
畳之上ニ着座
但御門主之御前中礼ニ不及
一御法事相始御門主御勤も有之御法事御式相済而御門主
御内陣江直入御焼香有之無間も龍光院自分着座之前へ
参り会釈有之同人先立二而御内陣江入其節音楽始る
但中啓も持入
一御内陣御膝付江手を懸御焼香御香箱有之を用
御名代之拝礼相勤退去御拝殿まゑ之戸の内右之方御
畳之上ニ着座其御内陣ゟ御門主御退去有之御拝殿江
御出を見受畳を下り少し進ミ御法事無御滞相済恐悦と
申上御会釈有之元之席江帰座御門主御退山相済以後
龍光院案内ニ而階を下り袴くくり
奥之院江為 御名代罷越日光奉行ニも付添ヒ参候
奥之院石段下薄縁敷有之處ニ而くくり下候龍光院
案内ニ而又候階を上りまゑ之戸内江入御宝塔前江出 御
膝付江手を懸 御名代之拝礼勤之御焼香ㇵ
無之右相済元処ニ而袴くくり龍光院按内ニ而御唐
門手前迄罷越其節照尊院自分献上物持参出家江
相渡右御内陣江納候見受候而罷出階を上り御縁
頬ニ而江戸表之通致目拝退去之節奉行始其外階下二
ヒ相詰候ニ付御法事無御滞相済上悦之旨申述退去御唐
門外ニ而袴退山夫ゟ宿坊照尊院江罷越入湯清メ候而
大紋着用 御宮江罷越二王門石之鳥居際坂
下ニ而下乗是ゟ内留守居駕籠脇斗召連照尊
院同道江戸表之通御水屋ニ而手水相遣御唐門内ニ而
進献之御太刀馬代留守居之者ゟ受取之中啓ㇵ懐江
入右進献物持参

下で草履取りを交替させ、右の石段上で刀を取り刀番に持たせてから御霊屋へ入った。右の方に手水場があるので手水を遣い、御唐門外右の方で袴の括りを解いた。御唐門内左右に奉行その外御付添の御医師が平伏しており、会釈には及ばず階を上った。この節音楽が始まり、前の戸の内へ入り横を向いたまま少し中礼をし、右の方中の御翠簾の下、御畳の上に着座した。
但し御門主の御前では中礼には及ばない
一、御法事が始まり御門主の御勤めもあって、御法事の御式が相済んで御門主が御内陣へ直ちに入り御焼香があった。間もなく龍光院が自分の着座の前へ参り、会釈があって同人が先立って御内陣へ入り、その節音楽が始まった。
但し中啓も持ち入る
一、御内陣の御膝付に手をかけ御焼香を行い、御香箱にあるものを用いた。御名代の拝礼を相勤めて退去し、御拝殿前の戸の内右の方、御畳の上に着座した。その御内陣から御門主の御退去があり、御拝殿へ御出になるのを見受け、畳を下り少し進んで「御法事滞りなく相済み恐悦」と申し上げ、御会釈があって元の席へ帰座した。御門主の御退山が相済んだ以後、龍光院の案内で階を下り袴の括りを直した。
奥之院へ御名代として参り、日光奉行にも付添って参った。奥之院石段下の薄縁が敷いてある処で括りを下げ、龍光院の案内でまた階を上り、前の戸内へ入り御宝塔前へ出て、御膝付に手をかけ御名代の拝礼を勤めた。御焼香はなかった。右が相済んで元の処で袴の括りを直し、龍光院の案内で御唐門手前まで参った。その節照尊院が自分の献上物を持参し出家に相渡し、右を御内陣へ納めるのを見受けて参り出た。階を上り御縁側で江戸表の通り目拝を致し、退去の節、奉行始めその外が階下に控え詰めているので「御法事滞りなく相済み上悦」の旨を申し述べて退去した。御唐門外で袴を直し退山し、それから宿坊照尊院へ参り入湯して清めてから大紋を着用した。
御宮へ参り、二王門石の鳥居際の坂下で下乗し、これより内は留守居・駕籠脇のみを召し連れ、照尊院同道で江戸表の通り御水屋で手水を遣った。御唐門内で進献の御太刀馬代を留守居の者から受け取り、中啓は懐に入れ、右の進献物を持参した。
御宮へ入り階を登り、御縁側で御太刀目録を御内陣へ備えるのを見受け拝礼をし、御幣を社人が持ち出し、その御敷居の内へ入り慎んで控えていた。
御幣を自分の前へ持参された節、平伏して頂戴の案内があった。御内陣前石の間左の方に着座し手をついて控えており、その節御土器が出て神酒を頂戴し、畢って御土器を照尊院へ相渡し、初めの通り御縁側まで引き、奉行並びに御別当へ挨拶に及んで退去し、御唐門外で

I changed sandal bearers below, had the sword bearer take my sword at the top of the stone steps on the right, then entered the mausoleum. There was a purification basin on the right side, so I performed ablutions, then untied my hakama cords on the right side outside the Karamon Gate. Inside the Karamon Gate on the left and right, the magistrate and other attending physicians prostrated themselves—no greeting was necessary—and I ascended the stairs. At this point music began, I entered inside the front doors, remained facing sideways, briefly performed a middle bow, and took my seat on the tatami below the green bamboo blind on the right side in the center.
Note: No middle bow was necessary in the presence of the temple head.
1. The Buddhist service began with the temple head's officiating, and after the ceremonial service was completed, the temple head entered directly into the inner sanctuary and offered incense. Soon after, Ryūkō-in came before where I was seated, there was a greeting, and he led the way into the inner sanctuary, at which point music began.
Note: A folding fan was also carried in.
1. I placed my hands on the kneeling cushion in the inner sanctuary and performed incense offering, using what was in the incense box. I completed the formal worship as imperial representative and withdrew, then sat on the tatami on the right side inside the doors in front of the worship hall. The temple head withdrew from the inner sanctuary, and seeing him emerge to the worship hall, I rose from the tatami, advanced slightly, and stated "The Buddhist service has been completed without incident, which brings great joy." There was a respectful acknowledgment, and I returned to my original seat. After the temple head's descent from the mountain was completed, I descended the stairs under Ryūkō-in's guidance and adjusted my hakama cords.
I proceeded to the inner sanctuary as imperial representative, with the Nikkō magistrate also accompanying me. At the place where thin mats were laid below the stone steps of the inner sanctuary, I lowered my cords, then under Ryūkō-in's guidance ascended the stairs again, entered inside the front doors, came before the treasure pagoda, placed my hands on the kneeling cushion, and performed the worship as imperial representative. There was no incense offering. After this was completed, I adjusted my hakama cords at the original place, and under Ryūkō-in's guidance proceeded to just before the Karamon Gate. At that time Shōson-in brought his offering and handed it to the monk, and I witnessed it being placed in the inner sanctuary before departing. I ascended the stairs and performed formal bowing on the veranda as is done in Edo, and when withdrawing, since the magistrate and others were assembled and waiting below the stairs, I stated that "The Buddhist service has been completed without incident, bringing great joy" and withdrew. I adjusted my hakama outside the Karamon Gate and descended the mountain, then proceeded to temple lodging Shōson-in, bathed for purification, and put on formal court dress.
I proceeded to the main shrine, dismounted at the slope below the stone torii at Niō Gate, and from this point took only caretakers and palanquin attendants, accompanied by Shōson-in. As is done in Edo, I performed ablutions at the purification pavilion. Inside the Karamon Gate I received the ceremonial sword and horse fee from the caretaker's attendant, put the folding fan in my breast, and brought these offerings.
I entered the main shrine, ascended the stairs, and on the veranda witnessed the ceremonial sword and inventory being placed in the inner sanctuary, then performed worship. The shrine attendant brought out the sacred offerings, and I entered within the threshold and remained respectfully waiting.
When the sacred offerings were brought before me, there was guidance to prostrate and receive them. I sat on the left side of the stone area in front of the inner sanctuary with hands placed respectfully, and at that time sacred sake cups were brought out and I received the sacred sake. After finishing, I handed the sake cup to Shōson-in, withdrew to the veranda as initially, exchanged greetings with the magistrate and head priest, and departed. Outside the Karamon Gate,
