頂戴御門主御肴ヒ下候ニ付帯け之侭御側江進頂戴之元
之処江退座加請之処返盃仕候様ヒ仰候ニ付執當江向御
辞退申候得共再応是江とヒ仰候二而土器カサエ酉麗之給
仕之者渡給仕之者土器を三方江載御門主江差上
御手二ヒ為取候を見受時宜いたし給仕之者土器引之畢御
門主御勝手江御入元之通御膳江直り二ノ御吸物引替汁粉
出御湯迄畢而後段御菓子両度出茶迄済候而元座江
引無程御門主御出座ニ付又候御留守居按内ニ而昨日御逢
之通御敷居際ニ而半座夫ゟ昨日之通罷出執當之方を向御
理頂戴仕忝仕合奉存候段申御取合有御門主御会釈有之此
処尓亭持参之太刀馬代上之間御敷居之内二而披寄丁寧
之儀御挨拶有之平伏畢而執當江向御勝手江御入候様申
上其節年寄衆ゟ之伝言之御挨拶有之執當御取合有之
御門主御入直退座扇子差刀持参溜座敷江罷刀ㇵ元之
通入側床脇江差置二取初之處江致着座執當御留守居
罷出候二付段々御懇意ヒ成下忝仕合奉存候旨申述畢人江
彼是御世話相成候旨挨拶申述向方ゟも送物之礼申聞候付
相応之挨拶いたし直両人按内ニ而引移廊下奉行始
御付添之医師抔送有之彼是世話二相成候趣礼申述最
初括り下シ候処二而長袴括り候敷臺迄坊官執當御留守
居抔出迎之通送有之鳥渡下二居致会釈罷帰御門

頂戴し、御門主が御肴を下されたので帯剣のまま御側に進んで頂戴し、元の処に退座した。献酌を請うたところ、返盃するよう仰せられたので執当に向かって御辞退申したが、再び是非にと仰せられたので、土器に酒を注いで給仕の者に渡した。給仕の者は土器を三方に載せて御門主に差し上げた。
御手に取られるのを見受けて時宜を計り、給仕の者が土器を引いた後、御門主は御勝手に御入りになった。元の通り御膳に直って二の御吸物の引き替えで汁粉が出て、御湯まで終わって後段に御菓子が両度出て茶まで済んで元の座に引いた。程なく御門主が御出座になったので、また御留守居の案内で昨日の御対面の通り御敷居際で着座し、それより昨日の通り参って執当の方を向いて御料理を頂戴し忝い仕合わせに存じ奉る段を申したところ、御取り合いがあって御門主が御会釈された。この処で持参の太刀馬代を上の間御敷居の内で披露し、丁寧の儀について御挨拶があって平伏した後、執当に向かって御勝手に御入り候様申し上げた。その節、年寄衆からの伝言の御挨拶があり、執当が御取り合いされた。
御門主が御入りになって直ちに退座し、扇子を差して刀を持参し溜座敷に参り、刀は元の通り入側床脇に差し置いて最初の処に着座した。執当、御留守居が参ったので、段々御懇意になって下さり忝い仕合わせに存じ奉る旨申し述べ終わって、人々に彼是御世話になった旨挨拶を申し述べた。向こうからも送り物の礼を申し聞かされたので、相応の挨拶をして直ちに両人の案内で引き移った。廊下で奉行を始め御付添の医師などの見送りがあり、彼是世話になった趣の礼を申し述べた。最初に袴を括り下した処で長袴を括り、その敷台まで坊官執当、御留守居などが出迎えの通り見送りがあり、少し下に居て会釈して帰った。御門外まで出立して帰り、御玄関の薄縁の上で帯刀のまま取次に口上した。

今日は御料理を下され御盃まで下し置かれ忝い仕合わせに存じ奉り候。私儀、追って御当地を発足仕り候につき、右御礼に参上仕り候。この段、執当中に宜しく申し上げ下さい。
右が済んで土屋筑後守役宅に参って取次に左の通り口上書を渡した。
今度拙者儀、御名代として滞りなく相勤め致し候。彼是御心添えを預かり忝く存じ候。追って御当地を発足致し候につき、参上して申し入れ候。
一、宿坊照尊院が入来して逢い、段々世話になったことについて挨拶した。
一、九時半に発足し、後で日光奉行に使者を以って出立の段を案内申し遣わし、人数を引き払った段を届けのため使者を以って申し達した。
一、今日から駅々の馳走人や出役の者に時宜を受けた事。
一、徳次郎泊に七時半過ぎに着いた。

一、八時半過ぎに徳次郎駅を出立した。
一、小金井昼休みに九時過ぎに着いた。

I partook, and when the temple head offered side dishes, I approached his side still wearing my sword, received them, and withdrew to my original place. When I requested to pour sake in return, he instructed me to return the cup, so I declined through the temple administrator, but when he insisted again, I poured sake into the earthenware cup and handed it to the attendant. The attendant placed the cup on the stand and presented it to the temple head.
Seeing him take it in his hands, I waited for the appropriate moment, and after the attendant withdrew the cup, the temple head retired to his private quarters. Returning to the meal as before, the second soup course was replaced with sweet red bean soup, and after finishing with hot water, sweets were served twice in the latter part, and after tea was completed, I withdrew to my original seat. Soon the temple head appeared again, so under the caretaker's guidance, as with yesterday's audience, I sat at the threshold edge, then proceeded as before, turned toward the temple administrator and stated that I was deeply grateful for receiving the meal. There was acknowledgment and the temple head offered his greetings. At this point I displayed the ceremonial sword I had brought as a horse substitute in the upper room within the threshold, there were greetings regarding proper etiquette, and after prostrating myself, I addressed the temple administrator saying he should retire to his quarters. At that time there were greetings conveying messages from the senior retainers, and the temple administrator acknowledged them.
After the temple head retired, I immediately withdrew, inserted my fan, brought my sword and proceeded to the waiting room. The sword was placed beside the entrance-side alcove platform as before, and I sat in the initial position. When the temple administrator and caretakers came, I stated that I was deeply grateful for their continued kindness, and after finishing, I expressed gratitude to various people for their assistance. They also conveyed thanks for gifts sent, so I offered appropriate greetings and immediately departed under the guidance of both officials. In the corridor, I was seen off by the magistrate, attending physician and others, and expressed thanks for all their assistance. At the place where I had initially tied up my hakama, I tied up my long hakama, and temple officials, administrators and caretakers came to see me off as they had come to greet me at the platform. I briefly remained below, offered greetings and departed. I proceeded to outside the temple gate and returned, and on the bamboo matting of the main entrance, still wearing my sword, I addressed the attendant.
As follows:
Today you graciously served a meal and even offered sake cups, for which I am deeply grateful. As I will soon depart from this area, I have come to express my thanks. Please convey this message properly to the temple administrators.
After this was completed, I went to the residence of Tsuchiya Chikugo-no-kami's deputy and handed the attendant a written statement as follows:
This time I have performed my duties as imperial representative without incident. I am grateful for the various considerations shown to me. As I will soon depart from this area, I have come to convey this message.
1. The lodging temple Shōson-in came to visit, and I expressed gratitude for all their assistance.
