一、五時半過ぎ二寸（午前九時頃）に出宅し、帛袷麻上下を着用して登城した。
一、御用召しのため罷出した旨を坊主を通じて御目付に申し遣わしたところ、兌助兵衛が承知した旨を申してきた。今日御用召しで出仕した衆は、松平紀伊守殿、永井信濃守殿（病気のため名代本庄近江守殿）、丹羽式部少輔、米倉丹後守殿で、一同に仰せ渡された。席順なども話し合って決めた。紀伊守殿には別に仰せ渡しがあった。一統の儀について承知し、出方並びに御礼申し上げ方なども申し合わせた。高家衆では戸田備後守、中條河内守にも召し出しがあったため、今日の出方なども話し合った。年寄衆が揃った後、詰日の衆である酒井修理殿、土井能登殿と一同に席に罷出た。
一、揃った後、御目付山木若狭守が雁の間に参り、寄せの書付をご覧になったので一読したところ、高家衆両人の次に自分と紀伊守殿の名前があったので、承知した旨を挨拶した。程なく年寄衆が御座敷を回られるため、芙蓉の御縁頬、雁の御障子の方の後に控え、高家衆両人の次に控居した。松平紀伊守殿は帝鑑の間のため、兼の間の縁頬に控居した。年寄衆の御座敷回り、詰日の衆の御機嫌伺いが済んだ後、御目付衆の差図により、高家衆両人が出席し、日光十七日の御名代を仰せ渡されて相済んだ。自分と松平紀伊守殿両人は一同に芙蓉の間の中の柱から出席し、年寄衆列座の中で御用番松平伊豆守殿から仰せ渡された。「来る二十日の日光御名代について、書面の通り仰せ付けられた」旨を仰せ聞かされ、御書付一通をお渡しされたので自分が受け取り、すぐに御書付を開いて拝見し、そのまま紀伊殿に相渡した。同人が拝見の上、自分と紀伊守殿一同に有難き旨の御礼を申し上げ、右の御書付を直に紀伊守殿が披き、懐中して退座した。
但し、右の御書付は自分に戻されたので、中の間で留守居の者に相渡した。
一、右が畢わって、永井信濃守殿の名代本庄近江守殿、丹羽式部少輔、米倉丹後守殿の三人が出席し、日光十七日の御祭礼奉行並びに代りを仰せ付けられた。
一、年寄衆列座の中で伊豆守殿からお渡しされた御書付一通は左の通りである。

1. Left the residence a little past 5:30 (around 9 AM), wearing silk summer formal attire (kamishimo), and attended the castle.
1. Regarding appearing due to an official summons, [I] sent word through a monk to the metsuke, whereupon Daijūkurōbei acknowledged the message. Those who appeared today for the official summons were Lord Matsudaira Kii-no-kami, Lord Nagai Shinano-no-kami (represented by Lord Honjō Ōmi-no-kami due to illness), Niwa Shikibu-shōyū, and Lord Yonekura Tango-no-kami, all of whom received instructions together. Seating arrangements were discussed and decided. Lord Kii-no-kami received separate instructions. Understanding the collective matters, procedures for conduct and expressing gratitude were also coordinated. Among the Kōke families, Lord Toda Bingo-no-kami and Nakajō Kawachi-no-kami were also summoned, so today's procedures were discussed. After the rōjū (senior councilors) assembled, along with the tsumejū (duty officers) Lord Sakai Shuri and Lord Doi Noto, [we] all took our seats.
1. After assembling, Metsuke Yamaki Wakasa-no-kami came to the Kari-no-ma and showed the attendance list, which I read. Since the names of myself and Lord Kii-no-kami appeared after the two Kōke members, I acknowledged this with proper greetings. Soon the rōjū made their rounds of the reception rooms, so [we] waited behind the Fuyō veranda and near the Kari sliding doors, with myself positioned after the two Kōke members. Lord Matsudaira Kii-no-kami, being assigned to the Teikan-no-ma, waited at the Ken-no-ma veranda. After the rōjū completed their rounds and the tsumejū finished their courtesy calls, following instructions from the metsuke, the two Kōke members took their places and were appointed as Nikkō representatives for the 17th, completing that business. Both myself and Lord Matsudaira Kii-no-kami took our places together from the central pillar of the Fuyō-no-ma, and with the rōjū in session, Goyōban Matsudaira Izu-no-kami made the announcement: "Regarding the Nikkō representation on the coming 20th day, [you] are appointed as written in the document," and handed over one official document, which I received. I immediately opened and read the document, then passed it to Lord Kii. After he examined it, both myself and Lord Kii-no-kami expressed our gratitude for this honor. Lord Kii-no-kami immediately folded the document, placed it in his breast, and withdrew.
Note: The above document was returned to me, so I handed it to my deputy in the middle room.
1. After this was completed, three people took their places: Lord Honjō Ōmi-no-kami (representing Lord Nagai Shinano-no-kami), Niwa Shikibu-shōyū, and Lord Yonekura Tango-no-kami, and were appointed as festival supervisors and substitutes for Nikkō on the 17th.
