現代語訳
一、午前七時半に出宅し、服紗袷半袴を着用して登城した。御用の件があるため召されたので、坊主を通じて御目付へ案内を申し遣わした。須田与左衛門が承知の旨を申し越し、朽木隠岐守、大岡主膳にも同様に御用召しがあったため、程なく登城された。三人で申し合わせて芙蓉の間へ参り、仰せ渡しの際の所作を申し合わせておいた。
一、老中登城により、今日の詰日衆である稲葉対馬守、石川中務、自分、隠岐主膳が一同席へ罷り出た。程なく御目付大草主膳が参り寄書を見せてくれたので、雁の間の四本障子の後ろへ自分と隠岐主膳が着座し、寄書を一読して承知の旨を申し遣わした。

一、御廻りで雁の間の四本障子の後ろへ、御用召しの高家老衆である横瀬駿河殿、前田信濃殿の次に、自分と隠岐主膳が着座した。
ただし扇子は同じ場所の後ろに置いた。
一、詰日の衆が御機嫌を伺い、それが済むと老中が芙蓉の間へ列座し、大目付が会釈により高家衆の横瀬駿河殿、前田信濃殿両人を一同に後に下がらせ、仰せ渡しが済んでから大目付の会釈により自分と隠岐が一同罷り出て、図の通り着座した。御用番の阿部備中守殿が仰せ渡されるには、「日光二十日の御名代、大和守代として隠岐守を仰せ付ける」旨を仰せ渡され、御書付を渡された。そのため自分が罷り出て受け取り、元の座に着座して拝見し、そのまま隠岐守へ渡して同人が拝見し、そのまま自分へ戻して畳み、その脇に差し置き、「ありがたき仕合せ」と御受けを申し上げて、御書付を手に持ち引き下がった。備中守殿が渡された御書付は以下の通りである。

一、右の御書付を留守居へ中の口で相渡し、同人が先へ持ち帰った。
一、菊の間の縁側辺りに横瀬駿河殿、前田信濃殿がおられたので、自分が挨拶を申し述べると、同人からも「十七日に御名代を仰せ付けられた」旨の挨拶があり、また「御座の間での御暇の節の習礼の件、急ぎでないが必ず頼む」ところ、快く引き受けた。

One, I left home at half past the seventh hour (7:30 AM), wearing formal court dress with hakama, and went to the castle. Since I was summoned for official business, I sent notification to the inspector through a monk. Suda Yozaemon sent word that he understood, and Kuchiki Oki-no-kami and Oka Shuzen also had similar official summons, so they came to the castle shortly. The three of us consulted together and went to the Fuyo room to coordinate our actions for when we would receive instructions.
One, with the senior councilors' arrival at the castle, today's duty officials - Inaba Tsushima-no-kami, Ishikawa Nakatsukasa, myself, and Oki Shuzen - all came out to the same room. Soon Inspector Okusa Shuzen arrived and showed us a written message. We sat behind the four-panel screen in the Kari room, read through the message, and sent word that we understood.

One, during the inspection rounds, behind the four-panel screen in the Kari room, following the high-ranking retainers Yokose Suruga-dono and Maeda Shinano-dono who were summoned for official business, myself and Oki Shuzen took our seats.
Note: fans were placed behind in the same location.
One, the duty officials inquired about His Lordship's mood, and when this was completed, the senior councilors took their seats in rows in the Fuyo room. The senior inspector, through formal greeting, had both high-ranking retainers Yokose Suruga-dono and Maeda Shinano-dono step back together. After the formal announcement was completed, through the senior inspector's greeting, myself and Oki came forth together and sat as shown in the diagram. The duty councilor Abe Bicchu-no-kami made the announcement: "For the twentieth day Nikko proxy service, Oki-no-kami is appointed as substitute for Yamato-no-kami," and handed over an official document. Therefore, I came forth to receive it, sat in my original seat to examine it, then passed it directly to Oki-no-kami who examined it, then returned it directly to me. I folded it and placed it beside me, expressed gratitude saying "what an honorable appointment," held the official document in hand, and withdrew. The official document handed over by Bicchu-no-kami read as follows:

One, I handed the above official document to the caretaker at the middle entrance, and he took it away first.
One, Near the veranda of the Kiku room, Yokose Suruga-dono and Maeda Shinano-dono were present, so I offered my greetings. They also greeted me, saying "the proxy appointment was made on the seventeenth day," and furthermore requested "regarding the practice of etiquette for the farewell ceremony in the formal audience room - it's not urgent but please certainly help with this," which I readily accepted.
