一、月次御礼はなく、御暇の衆がおり、不時の御礼があった。同席の者たちは残らず御錠口が開いてから廻られたが、自分一人席に控えて在った。御礼が済んで間もなく、御目付児嶋孫右衛門が寄るように申し聞かされたので、山吹の間入口の鴛鴦の杉戸向かいの御障子の方に控え居た。御用番伊豆守殿だけが羽目の間へ出席され、御目付の差図で参上し、日光奉行への奉書をお渡しいただき受け取った。奉行執当への御伝言の趣は先格の通りに申し伝えるべきかと伺ったところ、その通り心得て万端入念にするよう仰せ聞かされた。退座の際、御目付へ御用が済んだので退出する旨を慎重に申し上げた。奉書は御城に待機していた者を召し連れていたので、これに渡した。
ただし、奉書を入れた白木の箱は留守居の者が持ち出して控えていた。
一、退出してから老中水野出羽守殿へ、明日出発するため暇乞いに伺う旨を申し上げておいた。御用番伊豆守殿へは明日出立の届けを口上で申し上げておいた。
一、退出の節は清めの事情により、途中で出会った人々へは会釈せず、使いの者を通じて挨拶を申し遣わした。
一、帰宅は九時過ぎであった。
一、帰宅後、日光奉行への奉書を居間で用人たちが集まって内容を確認し、直ちに封印して用人たちに渡した。
一、御奉書は左の通りである：
霊屋へ当月二十日に
御名代として内藤大和守を差し遣わすので、相談されたい。

1. There was no monthly ceremony, but there were some who had received leave, and there were irregular ceremonies. All the other attendees went around after the main gate opened, but I alone remained waiting in my seat. Shortly after the ceremonies concluded, I was told that Inspector Kojima Magouemon wished to see me, so I waited by the sliding doors opposite the mandarin duck cedar doors at the entrance to the Yamabuki chamber. Only the duty officer Izu-no-kami took his seat in the wainscoted chamber, and following the inspector's instructions, I went forward and received the official letter to be delivered to the Nikkō magistrate. When I inquired whether the message to be conveyed to the magistrate's chief administrator should follow previous precedent, I was told to understand it as such and to handle all matters with utmost care. Upon withdrawing, I carefully informed the inspector that my official business was complete and I would now depart. I handed the official letter to the attendant I had brought who was waiting at the castle.
However, the white wooden box containing the official letter was carried out by the caretaker who was waiting.
1. After departing, I left word that I would visit Senior Councilor Mizuno Dewa-no-kami tomorrow to take my leave before departure. To the duty officer Izu-no-kami, I verbally reported my departure scheduled for tomorrow.
1. Since it was a time of purification upon departure, I did not exchange greetings with those I encountered on the way, but sent my regards through messengers.
1. I returned home after nine o'clock.
1. After returning home, my retainers gathered in the sitting room to examine the contents of the official letter to the Nikkō magistrate, then immediately sealed it and handed it to the retainers.
1. The official letter was as follows:
As representative to the mausoleum on the twentieth of this month,
Naitō Yamato-no-kami is being dispatched, so please make arrangements accordingly.
