一、御門主より下賜された御菓子が先だって到着していたので、書院の床の前に置いておいた。
一、御使として修学院の御留守居と大楽院が一同で参られたので、玄関まで出迎えて案内し、書院へ通した。修学院が「明日御料理を下賜される」旨を口上で申され、その次に大楽院が「御菓子を下賜される」旨を口上で申された。床の前へ進み御菓子を頂戴し、挨拶もそこそこに勝手（台所）へ入り、菓子と吸物を出して済ませてから退出した。御返答は以下の通り修学院へ伝えた：
「ますますご安泰でいらっしゃることは、恐れながら珍重なことと存じます。明日御料理を下賜くださる旨、恐縮に存じます。右の件、よろしくお取り次ぎくださいますようお願いいたします」と申し上げた。

- The sweets bestowed by the gate master (monzhu) had arrived earlier, so they were placed in front of the alcove (tokonoma) in the study (shoin).
- As messengers, the caretaker (orusugi) of Shūgaku-in and Dairaku-in came together, so I went out to the entrance to greet them, guided them inside, and had them proceed to the study. Shūgaku-in delivered an oral message saying "tomorrow a meal will be bestowed," and next Dairaku-in delivered an oral message saying "sweets will be bestowed." They proceeded to the front of the alcove, received the sweets, and with minimal pleasantries went into the kitchen area, served sweets and soup, and after finishing, withdrew. The reply conveyed to Shūgaku-in was as follows:
"That you continue to be in good health is, though I speak humbly, a most precious thing. That you will bestow a meal tomorrow is most gracious. Please kindly relay this message appropriately."
