一 両院が奥へ入られ、それから茶・たばこ盆を給仕の者が差し出し、
引き続き御菓子を下された。その際、御目代町田孫四郎が御勝手の
方へ寄り着座した。それから再び御名代修学院御留守居大楽院が
出てこられ、それぞれ帰路に異常なく旅行するよう入念な挨拶があり、こちらからも
取り繕って相応の挨拶をした。大楽院からも同様で、先方より
丁寧に旅行の安否について折角気遣うよう申し聞かされた。こちらからも厚く
挨拶に及び、両人が引かれたので、直ちに法門院の案内で御座敷を退座
したところ、御座敷中程の廊下で修学院・大楽院が控えており、
一通りの挨拶があったので、下に居て挨拶に及んだ。それから御玄関脇の
御杉戸の内へ御目代中井太左衛門・町田孫四郎が
送ってくれたので、これまた同様に挨拶に及んだ。同所御杉戸外で大紋を括り、
法門院が御敷臺まで送ってくれたので相応に挨拶に及んだ。その外

The chief priest's representative, Shūgaku-in, the caretaker, and Dairaku-in all appeared together,
and regarding the matter that the representative duties had been carried out without incident, I was addressed twice by both temples, so I responded as follows:
I carried out the representative duties successfully and performed my own worship,
expressing gratitude twice.
1. Both temple officials withdrew to the inner quarters, after which servants brought out tea and tobacco trays,
followed by sweets being served. At this time, the deputy official Machida Magoshirō
went to sit near the service area. Then again, the chief priest's representative Shūgaku-in, the caretaker, and Dairaku-in
appeared and gave careful greetings wishing for safe travel on the return journey without incident. I also
made appropriate reciprocal greetings. Dairaku-in did likewise, and from their side
they courteously expressed concern for the safety of the journey. I also extensively
exchanged greetings, and after both withdrew, I immediately retired from the reception room
under Hōmon-in's guidance. At the corridor in the middle of the reception room, Shūgaku-in and Dairaku-in were waiting,
and there were customary greetings, so I remained below and exchanged greetings. Then, to the inner side of the cedar doors
beside the main entrance, the deputy officials Nakai Tazaemon and Machida Magoshirō
escorted me, so I likewise exchanged greetings with them. At the same location outside the cedar doors, I tied up my formal court dress,
