At half past six, arrived at Senju post station for a brief rest. Immediately sent a messenger to Lord Izu-no-kami, the duty officer, reporting our arrival at Senju station and that we would formally visit him shortly. Before five o'clock, departed from the aforementioned station. At Minowa-machi 2-chome, received notification of the five o'clock drum signal from the Western Citadel. After five o'clock, took a brief rest and arrived at Segawa Shoin, the head priest of Gojo Tenjin Shrine in Shitaya. At the same location, completed preparations and waited for a while to observe the situation. When notification came that the senior councilors were proceeding to the castle, I went to Lord Kii-no-kami, the duty officer, with my document escort (wearing fukusa silk cloth and hemp hakama) and local attendants. I went directly through the service entrance, called for the public affairs officer, and reported my arrival. I was told that since the lord was still at the castle, the message would be conveyed. When asked about preparations, I replied that there was still time, so all was well, and remained waiting. Before eight o'clock, Lord Kii-no-kami returned from the castle and immediately came to his seat. I first inquired about his well-being, and he informed me that His Lordship was also in good health. I then immediately made the following report: "On the occasion of the succession, I have served as the deputy representative to Nikko Mausoleum and respectfully report the safety of the sacred mountain with great joy. I was to convey the official letter and verbal message to Lord Hori Mino-no-kami, but as he is ill, I delivered the official letter to his deputies Nakai Tazaemon and Machida Magoshiro, instructing them to convey the message to Mino-no-kami." When I reported this, Lord Kii-no-kami offered appropriate acknowledgments. After withdrawing briefly, I reported that I had fulfilled my duties as deputy representative without incident and had also personally paid my respects at the mausoleum, expressing my gratitude, then immediately withdrew from the meeting.
