梯姑樹《和名は詳らかでない。おそらく刺桐であろう》
悉達慈姑は、樹の高さ一丈ほどで、葉は桃に似ている。実は葡萄の房のようで、累々として深い藍色をしている。慈姑奶と名付けられているが、食べることはできない。
悉達慈姑《別名慈姑奶。薩州の方言では山冨志》
花には梅、桃、杏、桂、木蘭、木蓮、木芙蓉、紅櫻、雪毬、山茶、安石榴、杜鵑がある。《杜鵑は十月に花を開き、三月まで続く。花は非常に大きく、中国で産するものの四倍である》佛桑《千葉のものには大紅と浅紅の二色がある。単葉のものには大紅一種があり、中心の蕊が花弁の外に一寸ほど高く出て、燭台を承けるような形をしている。別名を照殿紅という。四季を通じて花があり、六月が最盛期である》山丹《中国に比べて特に大きく、樹となって丈余の長さになるものもある。紅花が四方に数十房、火のように叢生する。千葉のものもあり、重なった花台が非常に美しい》

The Shittatsu-jiko tree has a height of about one jō, with leaves resembling those of peach. The fruit is like grape clusters, hanging abundantly in deep indigo color. It is called jiko-nai (arrowhead milk), but it is not edible.
