長春《和名はシキザキバラ》
名護蘭、葉は短くて厚く、桂の葉と同じで、大きさはわずかに指ほど、三四月に花を開く、蘭と異ならず、一茎に八九房、集まって開く、香りは清らかで蘭に勝る、名護岳の岩石の間に出て、水土を必要とせず、あるいは樹の枝又に寄生し、あるいは棕櫚の皮で包んでこれを懸ける。また風蘭がある、葉は蘭よりも長く、香りは山柰や茴香のようで、竹を割いて鉢として、風前に懸け掛ける、極めて繁殖しやすく、俗人は皆蘭を尚んで孔子花と号する。
大葉名護蘭《また西表蘭と名づく。考えるに天台方外志にいう仙人指甲蘭は、おそらく即ちこの植物であろう》

Perpetual spring rose 《Japanese name is shikizakibara (four-season blooming rose)》
Nago orchid: The leaves are short and thick, same as cinnamon leaves, size barely like a finger. It blooms in the third and fourth months, no different from orchids. Eight or nine clusters on one stem bloom together. The fragrance is clear and surpasses that of orchids. It grows among the rocks of Mount Nago without needing water or soil. Sometimes it grows parasitically on tree branches, or is wrapped in palm bark and hung. There is also the wind orchid, whose leaves are longer than orchids, with a fragrance like galangal and fennel. Split bamboo is used as a pot, hung in front of the wind. It propagates extremely easily. Common people all value orchids and call them "Confucius flowers."
