はいかてかくまでに劣（オトリ）たまふものかとて、大に嘆（ナゲキ）しとなり、
実（ゲ）に士卒までも中心より誠（マコト）に服（フク）するにあらねば、真（マコト）の勇
気は出ぬものなれば、諸士をよく懐（ナツク）る仁愛こそ、大切の心が
けなるべけれ、仁者は必勇ありといふ、古人の誡（イマシメ）を思ひ、敢（カン）【左ルビ：ウチ】
死【左ルビ：ジニ】の操（ミサヲ）を過（アヤマ）らざるならば、外 寇（コウ）も豈（アニ）畏（オソル）るに足（タル）ものな

気を養ふて敵を圧力を生する事
大気は、天地の間に充（ミチ）塞（フサガリ）たるものにて、昔にも。地は大
気の之を挙（アグ）るなりといひて、凡天地の日月星辰、人畜
草木、一切の物は、たゞこの大気の中に溶（デツチ）て、一ッの塊（カタマリ）とな
したるが如きものなり、然してこの気は、その間を往来
運転（ウンテン）【左ルビ：メクリマハリ】して止（トヾマル）ことなく、時としては、盈虧（ヱイキヨ）【左ルビ：ミチカケ】屈伸（クツシン）【左ルビ：カヽミノビ】あり、その盈
虧屈伸の間に、おのづからなる数理を具へたるもの
なるがゆゑに、その天地と同一体なる人身にも、また
同く盈虧屈伸ありて、天下にあるとあらゆる物にこと
ごとく此数理を具へたり、《割書：此事は、予が養生要略、養気説｜等に予（アラカシメ）記しおきたり、》この
気の此身より張出して身を衛護（マモル）るものを衛気といふ、
《割書：天下国家には、天下国家の衛気｜あることも、同書に論じたり、》この衛気は、張（ハル）ときは人を制（セイ）し、縮（チヾ）む
ときには、人に制せらる、その大に張出したる時にあたり
ては、刀剣もこれを斬（キル）こと能はず、矢鉋も之を害（ガイ）する

どうしてこれほどまでに劣ってしまわれたのかと言って、大いに嘆いたということである。実際に兵卒に至るまでも心の底から誠に服従するのでなければ、真の勇気は出ないものであるから、諸士をよく懐柔する仁愛こそ、大切な心がけであるべきである。仁者は必ず勇ありという古人の戒めを思い、敢死の志操を誤らないならば、外敵もどうして恐れるに足るものであろうか。
気を養って敵を圧倒する力を生み出すこと
大気は、天地の間に充満しているものであって、昔から「地は大気がこれを持ち上げるのである」と言って、およそ天地の日月星辰、人や動物、草木、一切の物は、ただこの大気の中に溶け込んで、一つの塊となったようなものである。そしてこの気は、その間を往来し回転して止まることなく、時としては満ち欠けや屈伸があり、その満ち欠けや屈伸の間に、自然の数理を備えたものであるがゆえに、その天地と同一体である人身にも、また同じく満ち欠けや屈伸があって、天下にあるあらゆる物にことごとくこの数理を備えている。《割注：この事は、私の『養生要略』『養気説』等にあらかじめ記しておいた》この気がこの身から張り出して身を守護するものを衛気という。《割注：天下国家には、天下国家の衛気があることも、同書に論じた》この衛気は、張るときは人を制し、縮むときには人に制せられる。その大いに張り出した時に当たっては、刀剣もこれを斬ることができず、矢や鉋もこれを害することが

On Cultivating Qi to Generate Power that Overwhelms Enemies
The great qi fills the space between heaven and earth, and from ancient times it has been said that "the earth is lifted up by this great qi." Generally speaking, the sun, moon, and stars of heaven and earth, humans and animals, plants and trees—all things are as if dissolved within this great qi, forming one mass. This qi circulates and revolves through this space without stopping, and at times there are phases of fullness and emptiness, contraction and expansion. Because it possesses natural mathematical principles within these phases of fullness/emptiness and contraction/expansion, the human body, being one with heaven and earth, likewise has these same phases of fullness/emptiness and contraction/expansion, and all things under heaven are equipped with these mathematical principles. 《Interlinear note: I have previously recorded this matter in my "Essentials of Health Cultivation," "Theory of Cultivating Qi," etc.》 The qi that extends from this body to protect it is called "defensive qi." 《Interlinear note: That heaven, earth, nations, and states have their own defensive qi is also discussed in the same work》 This defensive qi, when expanded, controls others; when contracted, is controlled by others.
