【右丁】 大量の水を飲んだ者にその術を行う際にも、急激に乱暴に引き回すことなく、いかにも慎重で細心に取り扱い、みだりに頭部を逆さまに下げて持ち上げることなどしてはならない。頭面・胸・背中を圧迫したり、物に触れさせて地に落とすなどして、損傷を負わせることなどがあっては、かえって自然に蘇生するはずの者も救えなくなることがあるので、よくこれを慎むべきである。故に胸・腹・みぞおちをよく診察して、さほど蓄水のないものは、初めから頭の方を高くし、右側を下にして寝かせて、手足から遡って胸腹を摩擦し、手拭い二、三条を重ね畳んで、熱湯に浸し、代わる代わる身体の諸部を摩擦しながら温める湿布もよい。いずれにしても前編で述べたように、口中の土砂を丁寧に拭き取った後、体力のある者に 【左丁】 息を吹き入れさせるか、またはふいごを用いて、静かに風気を口内に吹き入れるのがよい。《割書:陣中には鍛冶がなければ、刀槍の折れ損じた物を鍛え直すことができないので、軍勢の多少に従って刀匠数名を連れて行くものであって、ふいごは陣中に必ずあるはずなので、まずそれを用いるとよい。しかし今の世の剣客のように、ただ敵の刀にのみ心を奪われ、自分を守ることを忘れ、剣術は必ず刀を以て刀を防ぐものと思い、相討ちを以て腕力を競い、奸智邪謀の偽りを以て勝ちを求めるような闘鶏と異なることのないようでは、いかなる名剣利刀であってもたちまち竹箒のようになって、敵を刺し切ることは困難であろう。これはいかなることから起こるかというと、「兵は詭道なり」ということを誤解したためであり、剣術は必ず騙して勝つものと思う小人の卑見によって、このような拙劣なことになったのであろう。故に夕雲が「畜生兵法」と非難したのも、実にその理があることと思われる。》 この溺死者といえども、初めから急に温め過ぎては、かえって救い難いので、よくその旨を考えるべきである。服薬は医師の預かるところであるが、前に述べた霍乱の吐瀉が激しく、陽気が衰えて死にそうな者も、この凍死・溺死の陽気回復の遅鈍な者も、これを治療するところ 【右丁】 For those who have swallowed large amounts of water, when performing this technique, one must not roughly pull them about suddenly, but handle them with the utmost care and attention to detail, and must not carelessly invert the head or lift it up.
