息を吹き入れさせるか、またはふいごを用いて、静かに風気を口内に吹き入れるのがよい。《割書：陣中には鍛冶がなければ、刀槍の折れ損じた物を鍛え直すことができないので、軍勢の多少に従って刀匠数名を連れて行くものであって、ふいごは陣中に必ずあるはずなので、まずそれを用いるとよい。しかし今の世の剣客のように、ただ敵の刀にのみ心を奪われ、自分を守ることを忘れ、剣術は必ず刀を以て刀を防ぐものと思い、相討ちを以て腕力を競い、奸智邪謀の偽りを以て勝ちを求めるような闘鶏と異なることのないようでは、いかなる名剣利刀であってもたちまち竹箒のようになって、敵を刺し切ることは困難であろう。これはいかなることから起こるかというと、「兵は詭道なり」ということを誤解したためであり、剣術は必ず騙して勝つものと思う小人の卑見によって、このような拙劣なことになったのであろう。故に夕雲が「畜生兵法」と非難したのも、実にその理があることと思われる。》
