すべてこのような術に至っては、専門の外科といえども、特に優れた巧手でなければ、よく行うことができないことである。頭部・額部及び胸部・腹部等の内臓を銃弾に貫かれたものは、即死するゆえに、治術を施すこともないが、胸部も幸いにして心臓・肺臓の二臓に当たらず、縦横の隔膜をも破らず、腹部も重要な部位に当たらないものは、治術を施して治るものもあるが、それらもまた一般人が容易に手を下すものではない。故にここでは省いて言わないのである。ここではただ武士が理解して自分のため他人のために大きな助けとなることを簡単に記しておくまでである。
