愛して恣（ほしいまま）に育てれば、夫の家に行って必ず気随（わがまま）で夫に疎まれ、また舅の教えを正しく思えなければ堪え難く思い、舅を恨み誹（そし）って仲が悪くなって

ついには追い出されて恥をさらす。女子の父母が自分の教えがないことを言わずして、舅・夫が悪いとのみ思うのは誤りである。これは皆、女子の親の教えがないゆえである。

If parents raise their daughters indulgently with excessive affection, when they go to their husbands' houses, they will inevitably be selfish and become disliked by their husbands. Moreover, if they cannot properly accept their fathers-in-law's teachings, they will find it unbearable, come to resent and slander their fathers-in-law, and relations will deteriorate.

Eventually they will be cast out and bring shame upon themselves. When the parents of such daughters do not acknowledge their own failure to provide proper education and instead think only that the father-in-law and husband are at fault, this is an error. All of this happens because the girl's parents failed to provide proper instruction.
