現代語訳

【右丁】
　右手で襟を曳いて歩く。前使録には「男婦ともに皆裏衣無し」とあるが、今は貴官の裏衣も中国のようなものがある。女衣では貴家の衣襟上は本色紬紗で鱗のように五層状に作る。男衣にはこれは無い。女性の胸当ての背後下垂部分は燕尾形に作ることもある。
　寝衣は身丈よりも半分長く加え、袖及び領があり、厚い綿を入れて包む。国人は衣を「衾」と呼ぶが、これは衾でありながら衣のようでもある。
　各色の錦帽、錦帯は本国では皆作られておらず、福建省の店舗が別に織って市場で売っている。本国では蕉布のみは家々に機があり、織れない女はいない。首里で作られるものは文様が特に美しく、自用するもので交易には出さない。

王帽
　　国王の烏紗帽は双翼が側面から上向きに衝き、盤金朱纓を結んで顎下三四寸許り垂らす。これは前に賜った旧制であるという。皮弁があって朝祭の服とするというが、まだ見ていない。

　　帽は紙を糊で骨とし、帕で蒙う。式は僧の毘盧帽のようで中空無頂。絹の方幅で髻の半分を覆い、口は互いに交わる。前簷の額に着く処は鱗次七層、後簷は十二層。彩織帽では紫が最も貴く、黄がこれに次ぎ、紅がまたこれに次ぐ。中でも花と素で等級を別ける。青緑の帽は下級である。

　They walk dragging the collar with their right hand. The previous envoy's record states "both men and women all have no undergarments," but now noble officials also have undergarments like those in China. For women's clothing, noble families make the upper collar area with silk gauze in the original color, arranged in five scale-like layers. Men's clothing does not have this. The hanging portion at the back of women's chest coverings is sometimes made in the shape of a swallow's tail.
　Sleeping garments are made half again as long as the body height, with sleeves and collar, thickly padded and wrapped. The people of this country call clothing "qin" (coverlet), but this is both coverlet and clothing.
　Various colored brocade caps and brocade belts are not made in this country at all; shops in Fujian province weave them separately and sell them in the market. In this country, only banana fiber cloth has looms in every household, with no woman unable to weave it. Those made in Shuri have particularly beautiful patterns and are for personal use, not for trade.

Royal Cap
　　The king's black gauze cap has double wings projecting upward from the sides, with gold-plated vermillion tassels tied and hanging about three to four inches below the chin. This is said to be an old system previously bestowed. It is said there is a leather cap for court ceremonial dress, but this has not been seen.

　　The cap uses paper pasted as framework, covered with cloth. The style is like a monk's Vairocana cap, hollow in the middle with no top. A square piece of silk covers half the topknot, with the edges crossing each other. Where the front brim touches the forehead has seven scale-like layers, the rear brim has twelve layers. Among colored woven caps, purple is most precious, yellow comes next, and red follows after that. Within these, floral and plain patterns create distinctions of rank. Blue and green caps are for lower ranks.
