　　衣はすべてゆったりと幅広で、後ろに交わる衽（おくみ）がない。袖は大きく二、三尺の長さで、手指を過ぎない程度である。右襟の端に欠勢（切れ込み）を作り、衣帯はない。多くは芭蕉布や蕉葛で作る。縞模様に色を交える。男女の衣はすべて同じで、これを「衾（きん）」と呼ぶ。

帯
　　大帯は長さ一丈四、五尺、幅六、七寸で、腰の周りに三、四重に巻く。雑花錦地のものが最も貴く、大花錦帯がこれに次ぎ、龍の模様で黄地や紅地のものがまたこれに次ぐ。下級のものはすべて雑色花帯である。

　　All clothing is loose and wide, without rear overlapping panels (okumi). Sleeves are large, two to three feet long, not extending past the fingertips. The right collar end has a notched cut, and there are no clothing belts. Most are made from banana fiber cloth or banana hemp. They feature striped patterns with interwoven colors. Men's and women's clothing are all the same, called "kin" (coverlet).

Belt
　　Large belts are one jō four to five feet long and six to seven inches wide, wrapped around the waist three to four times. Those with mixed floral brocade ground are most precious, large floral brocade belts come next, and those with dragon patterns on yellow or red ground follow after that. Lower grade ones are all mixed-color floral belts.
