右三味／細末（さいまつ）して絹（きぬ）につゝみ水にしめし紙（かみ）にかゝんと思ふ所（ところ）かるく
たゝき付／置（おき）墨（すみ）をこくすり何（なに）にても書（かき）たるを上（うへ）にて水にうかし
はし先（さき）にてそろ〳〵と紙（かみ）のはしの方（かた）よりおさへゆけば書たる墨（すみ）ば
かり水（みつ）上にうかみ紙（かみ）は水底（そこ）に沈（しづ）むなり又／外（ほか）のぬれざる紙にて浮
たる文字（もし）の上におけば其かみによく〳〵うつるなり
○白紙（しろかみ）を火（ひ）にあぶれは文字（もんし）顕（あらは）るゝ法
上酒（しやうさけ）にて何（なに）なりとも文字（もし）を書（かき）よく乾（かはか）し置（おく）なりさて火にて
あぶれは其／如（こと）くに文字（もし）あらはるゝなり

右三味を細末にして絹に包み、水に濡らし紙にかけんと思う所を軽く叩き付けて置き、墨を濃く摺り何にでも書いたものを上にて水に浮かし、箸先にてそろそろと紙の端の方より押さえて行けば、書いた墨ばかり水上に浮かび紙は水底に沈むなり。また他の濡れざる紙にて浮いた文字の上に置けば、その紙によくよく写るなり。
○白紙を火にあぶれば文字が現れる方法
上酒にて何なりとも文字を書き、よく乾かし置くなり。さて火にてあぶればその如くに文字が現れるなり。
○白紙に火をつければ自然に文字だけ焼け抜ける方法
炭火の上にある灰汁という白い灰を取り、硯の中へ入れて墨を摺り、この墨にて何にでも書いてよく火にて乾かし、その文字の処へ火を付ければ文字だけ焼け抜けて彫り抜きのごとく成るなり。
○白紙を水につけて文字が現れる方法
明礬を水にて溶き何なりとも書いて能く乾かし置けば、少しも知れぬものなり。これを水に浮かせば文字が白く現れるなり。

Grind these three ingredients into fine powder and wrap in silk, moisten with water and lightly tap onto the paper where you wish to apply it. Grind ink thickly and write anything, then float it on water from above. Using chopstick tips, gently press from the edge of the paper - only the written ink will float on the water surface while the paper sinks to the bottom. Also, if you place other dry paper over the floating characters, they will transfer very well onto that paper.
○Method for characters to appear when white paper is heated over fire
Write any characters with fine sake and let them dry well. Then when heated over fire, the characters will appear exactly as written.
○Method for only the characters to naturally burn through when white paper is set on fire
Take the white ash called "aku" that forms on top of charcoal fire, put it in an inkstone and grind ink. Write anything with this ink and dry it well over fire. When fire is applied to where the characters are, only the characters will burn through, creating something like carved openings.
○Method for characters to appear when white paper is put in water
Dissolve alum in water and write anything, then dry it well - it will be completely invisible. When this is floated in water, the characters will appear in white.
