旅（たび）だちするに硫黄木（いわう）二三枚／懐中（くはいちう）すれば足に豆（まめ）のできざること妙也
○終夜（よもすから）寝（ね）ずして眠（ねふた）からざる法
ねぶりに堪（たへ）がたきとき鼠（ねづみ）の糞（ふん）を紙（かみ）につゝみ臍（へそ）にあて張付（はりつけ）おく
べし眠らざる事妙なり

磁石（ししやく）を試（こゝろみ）るに一ツの石（いし）に自然（しせん）と六／合（かう）の位（くらゐ）を備（そな）へたる物と
見へたり《割書：上下東西南北｜これを六合といふ》これをこゝろみるに針（はり）の鋒（さき）に磁石の
北（きた）をすり付／針（はり）の耳（みゝ）に慈石の南をすり付其／針（はり）にて灯心（とうしん）の
横（よこ）につらぬき水に浮（うか）むれは針先（はりさき）北（きた）を指（さ）す也又／針先（はりさき）に
磁石の東を磨（す）り耳（みゝ）に西をすり付れは水にうかすに東西に
よこたはりて東（ひかし）をさす也磁石の坤（こん）と艮（こん）をすれば角（すみ）どりに
うかむ也／巽乾（そんけん）も又同し
磁石の方角（はうがく）をしるには時計（とけい）をもつて石（いし）の周（めくり）を触（ふれ）めくら
せば同気（とうき）相／求（もと）て北の所にて羅径（らけい）の針先（はりさき）むかひ南の所
にて針の岐（また）むかふにてしるなり○本草（ほんさう）綱目（こうもく）に宗奭（さうけい）か説を
丙（へい）の位にかたよるといへるは針先（はりさき）を丙（ひのえ）の方にすり付針の耳を

旅立ちする際に硫黄木を二、三枚懐中に入れれば、足に豆（まめ）ができないことは妙である。
○一晩中寝ずして眠たくならない方法
眠気に堪えがたいとき、鼠の糞を紙に包んで臍に当てて貼り付けておくべきである。眠らないことは妙である。
○磁石の説明
磁石を試すに、一つの石に自然と六合の位を備えたものと見える。《上下東西南北、これを六合という》これを試すには、針の先に磁石の北を擦り付け、針の耳（穴）に磁石の南を擦り付け、その針で灯心を横に貫き水に浮かべれば針先が北を指す。また針先に磁石の東を磨り、耳に西を擦り付ければ水に浮かすと東西に横たわって東を指す。磁石の坤と艮を擦れば斜めに浮く。巽乾も同じである。
磁石の方角を知るには時計を持って石の周りを触れ回らせば、同気相求めて北の所で羅針盤の針先が向かい、南の所で針の股が向かうことで分かる。○本草綱目に宗奭の説で「丙の位に偏る」というのは、針先を丙の方に擦り付け、針の耳を壬の方に擦り付けた針で考えたものと見える。

○Explanation of the magnetic stone
When testing a magnetic stone, it appears that one stone naturally possesses the six cardinal positions. {{Upper-lower, east-west, south-north - these are called the six cardinal directions}} To test this: rub the north pole of the magnet on the needle's point, rub the south pole of the magnet on the needle's eye, thread this needle horizontally through a lamp wick and float it on water - the needle point will indicate north. Also, if you rub the east pole of the magnet on the needle point and the west pole on the eye, when floated on water it will lie horizontally pointing east. If you rub the southwest (kon) and northeast (gon) poles of the magnet, it will float diagonally. The southeast-northwest (sonken) works the same way.
To determine the magnetic stone's orientation, use a timepiece to feel around the stone's circumference - like attracts like, so at the north position the compass needle's point will face toward it, and at the south position the needle's fork will face toward it. ○In the Honzo Komoku (Compendium of Materia Medica), Zongshi's theory states it "tends toward the bing position" - this appears to be based on observations using a needle with its point rubbed against the bing direction and its eye rubbed against the jin direction of the magnet.
