右六味ともし油をもつて先（まつ）朱（しゆ）を煉（ね）り是を厚（あつ）き紙（かみ）に
膏薬（かうやく）をのはす如くに延（のば）し微火（びくは）にて少しあぶりあら乾（かわ）き
したるものを鋏（はさみ）にて細（こま）かにきり釜（かま）に入るなり尤釜の底へ
けし炭（すみ）を壱合あまりしき其上右六味のものを追々（おひ〳〵）に
入れて第（たい）一の上へは明礬（めうばん）と寒水石（かんすいせき）とを多分にふり
かけ置也文武火にて次第（したい）につよき火にして焼也

○朱を使って水銀を製造する方法
極製朱 半斤
けやき灰（細末） 一合
しゃしゃきの灰（同じく細末） 一合
寒水石（同じく細末） 三両

灯し油 五勺
右の六味を、まず灯し油で朱を練り、これを厚い紙に膏薬を延ばすように延ばし、微火で少し炙って荒乾きしたものを鋏で細かく切り、釜に入れる。もっとも釜の底へ消し炭を一合余り敷き、その上に右の六味のものを順次入れて、第一の上へは明礬と寒水石とを多分に振りかけ置く。文武火で次第に強い火にして焼く。
右の水銀釜は京都市中にはないものである。

○Method for producing mercury using cinnabar
Premium cinnabar: half kin
Zelkova ash (fine powder): 1 gō
Shashaki ash (same fine powder): 1 gō
Glauberite (same fine powder): 3 ryō
Alum (same fine powder): 1 ryō
Lamp oil: 5 shaku
For the above six ingredients, first knead the cinnabar with lamp oil, spread this on thick paper like applying ointment, lightly roast over low heat until semi-dried, cut finely with scissors, and put into a furnace. Importantly, spread more than one gō of charcoal on the bottom of the furnace, gradually add the above six ingredients on top, and sprinkle plenty of alum and glauberite over the first layer. Heat with gentle then gradually stronger fire.
The above mercury furnace is not available within Kyoto city.
This furnace is made at brazier maker Yasubei's shop on the east side of the north end of the second bridge on Fushimi Highway.
