つぎにかいさんやどばいりのとき
御ちやく用の御ふるぎやぶれふんどし
御てんびんぼうそのほかすりこぎ
すりばちねこのわんのあわびかい
までかないにあるとあらゆる
しよどうぐはこれみないゑ〳〵の
ほうもつれいほうなり一たび
はいするともがらはおごりといふ
あくじさいなんをまぬがるゝ
との御せいぐわんなり
丸れいほうおほき中にも
ぬかぬ太刀と申すたちあり
此太刀はそのかみもろこし
わいかの市にてかんしんと
いふたう人さかなうりの
またをくぐりし時こしに
たいしたる太刀にて
それよりのちこの人の
またをくゞつたる
ところの世にまれ
なる太刀なりそのゝち
かんにん五郎まけて三郎
といふ鏡台のものゝふの
いゑにつたはりけるが
ある時かんにん

太刀のつかに足をかけ

けれどもいや〳〵
人のわるきは
わがわるき

太刀をぬけは

ぬけ六〳〵

現代語訳
次に開山宿入りの時
御着用の御古着破れ褌
御天秤棒その他すりこぎ
すり鉢猫の椀のあわび貝
まで家内にあるとあらゆる
諸道具はこれみな家々の
宝物霊宝なり。一たび
拝するともがらは驕りという
悪事災難を免がるる
との御誓願なり。
丸霊宝多き中にも
抜かぬ太刀と申す太刀あり。
此太刀はその昔唐土
倭国の市にて寛心と
いう唐人魚売りの
股をくぐりし時腰に
帯したる太刀にて
それより後この人の
股をくぐったる
ところの世にまれ
なる太刀なり。その後
寛忍五郎負けて三郎
という鏡師の武士の
家に伝わりけるが
ある時寛忍
五郎
花川戸の
介六と
口論に
及び
介六かの
太刀の柄に足をかけ
「さあ抜け抜け」と言い
けれども「いやいや
人の悪きは
我が悪き
なり。この
太刀を抜けば
我が身を
滅ぼす
道理」と
寛忍五郎
じっと無念を
こらえければ
この時鉢巻
薄汚れて
この太刀より
赫灼として
光明
を
放ち
けり。
これ
より諸人
この太刀を尊敬
して抜かぬ太刀の
光明とぞ申しける。当山第一の宝物なり。
♪「こんな馬鹿者に
構うより
早くここを
逃げの
びようと
するが
よい」
「朝飯茶粥に
及ばず小便に
駆るになんぞ
枯れた青菜
を用いんや」
「さあその刀を
抜け六々」
♪「この女郎揚巻か
松巻かなんだか
知らぬがちと
煙たい女郎也」
英語訳
Next, from when the founding master entered lodgings,
his worn old clothes and torn loincloth
that he wore, his carrying pole, and other items like
pestles, mortars, cat bowls, and abalone shells—
all the various household
implements found in the house are
precious treasures and sacred relics of each family.
It is his sacred vow that those
who worship them once will be spared
from the evil deeds and disasters of arrogance.
Among the many sacred treasures,
there is a sword called "the sword that is never drawn."
This sword, long ago in the markets
of China and Japan, when a Chinese
fish seller named Kanshin
crawled between someone's legs, was the sword
he wore at his waist.
Since then, having passed
between this person's legs,
it became a sword rare
in this world. Later
it was passed down to the house
of a warrior who was a mirror-polisher
called Kannin Goro, defeated and now Saburo.
One time Kannin
Goro got into
an argument with
Rokusuke of
Hanakawado.
Rokusuke put his foot on
the hilt of that sword
and said "Come on, draw it, draw it!"
but "No, no,
others' evil
is my own evil.
If I draw
this sword,
I will destroy
myself—
such is the principle."
Kannin Goro
endured his resentment quietly.
At this moment, his headband
dirty and thin,
from this sword
blazingly
brilliant light
was
emitted.
From this time,
all people
revered this sword
and called it "the light of the sword never drawn."
It is the foremost treasure of our temple.
♪"Rather than dealing
with such a fool,
it would be better
to quickly
escape
from here."
"Not needing morning rice gruel,
rushing to urinate—why would one
use withered
greens for that?"
"Come on, draw
that sword, Roku!"
♪"This courtesan—is she Agemaki
or Matsumaki or whatever—
I don't know, but she's
a rather annoying courtesan."
