さてその次の
霊宝は五百
羅漢驕るは
尊者と申す
仏なり。これすなわち
番頭手代大詰
に火を灯し
七日の間絶食
にて行をし給い
金のなる木の元末を
もって刻みたる一文
三礼の尊者なり。
この驕るは
尊者を
一度拝する
者は見栄坊
気取った風の過度
を逃れ決まじめの
浄土へ救い
取らんとの御誓
願なり。
その他五百羅漢の
内には飲むは
尊者食うは
尊者などと
申して上戸下戸の
信心すべき
尊者
多し。

英語訳
Now the next
sacred treasure is among the five hundred
arhats, the Buddha called
"Ogoruba [Pride] the
Venerable One." This is precisely
the venerable one of "one mon,
three prostrations" carved from
the root and tip of a money tree
by the head clerk and assistants who lit fires
in the great finale
and performed religious austerities
for seven days without eating.
Those who worship
this Ogoruba
the Venerable One
once will escape from
the excess of vanity
and affected mannerisms, and be saved
to the Pure Land of earnestness—
such is his sacred
vow.
Among the other five hundred arhats,
there are many venerable ones
called "Drinking
Venerable One" and "Eating
Venerable One," whom
heavy drinkers and teetotalers alike
should have faith in.

attitude,
one cannot maintain
a household—
this must be
