内経に曰く、五味を謹んで調和すれば、骨は正しく筋は柔らかくなり、気血は流れ、腠理は密になって、天命を長く保つことができる。
○淮南子に曰く、太だ喜べば陽が墜ち、太だ怒れば陰が破れる。
天隠子に曰く、身を潔め心を虚しくし、深い所に居て静かな室にあり、心を収めて性を復し、形を遺れ我を忘る。万法通霊、これを五漸の門と為す。

忿怒は烈火の如く、利欲は銛鋒の如し。終日長く戚戚たるは、これを阿鼻獄と名づく。顔回は陋巷に甘んじ、孟軻は自然に安んず。富貴は浮雲の如し、これを極楽国と名づく。孝悌は神明に通じ、忠信は蛮貊にも行わる。善を積めば百祥来たる、これを因果を作すと名づく。仁は人の安宅、義は人の正路なり。これを行うこと誠にして且つ久しきは、これを不壊身と名づく。道徳は一身を修め、功徳は万物を被う。賢と為り大聖と為るは、これを仏菩薩と名づく。言は百世の師と為り、行は天下の法と為る。久久として掩うべからざるは、これを光明蔵と名づく。
嵇中散五難
養生に五難有り。名利去らざるを一難と為し、喜怒除かざるを二難と為し、声色去らざるを三難と為し、滋味薄からざるを四難と為し、神薄く精散ずるを五難と為す。五者去らざれば、心雖も[続く]

The Inner Classic says: If you carefully harmonize the five flavors, the bones will be straight and the sinews flexible, qi and blood will flow, the interstices will be dense, and you will long possess the mandate of Heaven.
○The Huainanzi says: Too much joy causes yang to fall; too much anger breaks yin.
The Master of Heavenly Concealment says: Purify the body and empty the mind, dwell deep in quiet rooms, gather the heart and restore one's nature, abandon form and forget the self. When the myriad methods are spiritually penetrating, this is called the gate of the five gradual stages.

Anger and rage are like raging fire; profit and desire are like sharp blades. Being constantly sorrowful all day long is called the Avici Hell. Yan Hui was content in his humble lane; Mencius was peaceful in naturalness. Wealth and status are like floating clouds - this is called the Land of Ultimate Bliss. Filial piety and fraternal respect reach the gods and spirits; loyalty and trustworthiness are practiced even among barbarians. Accumulating good deeds brings a hundred auspicious signs - this is called creating cause and effect. Benevolence is humanity's peaceful dwelling; righteousness is humanity's correct path. Practicing these sincerely and for a long time is called the indestructible body. Moral virtue cultivates one person; meritorious virtue benefits all things. Becoming virtuous and becoming a great sage is called being Buddha and Bodhisattva. Words become teachers for a hundred generations; actions become laws for the world. What cannot be concealed for long, long periods is called the Treasury of Light.
