そうしたいと思い船頭に頼んだところ、承知してくれたので、虎右衛門、伝蔵、五右衛門の三人一同で乗り組む積もりで相談しましたが、虎右衛門は船中を恐れるので、どこで暮らしても同じだから残りたいと申し出ました。そこで伝蔵と五右衛門の二人がその船に乗り組み、同月下旬にハワイを出帆して南の方に向かい、キアンという島に寄港して湊に入り、薪と水を補給しました。この所に二ヶ月ほど滞船し、五年前の未年正月に同所を出帆して北の方へ向かい、日本の太平洋を通って、同年三月下旬に松前近海へ行って捕鯨を行いました。
その時、船頭から松前の地続きだと聞きました。本船は二里ほど沖に錨を下ろし、昼八つ時頃と覚えていますが、船の役員一人を付き添いとして、伝馬船一艘を出し、異国人六人と伝蔵、五右衛門が乗り組んで、その地の北海岸へ一同上陸しました。
そこには畑地に里芋などが植えてあり、九尺二間ほどの粗末な小屋が二ヶ所ありました。そこに異国人一同が行ったところ、家の中に草履や草鞋などが掛けてありましたが、近辺で人家を探しても人に出会いませんでした。小高い所で野火を焚いて、しばらく人が来るのを待ちましたが、全く姿を見せませんでした。
その時、船頭が言うには、無人島同様の場所でまた困ることになるので、日本の適当な場所へ送り届けてやろうと申しました。一旦上陸もしたので、人家を探して行ってみようと申しましたが、なお良い場所へ送ってやろうと

The three of them—Toraemon, Denzō, and Goemon—planned to board together, but Toraemon said he was afraid of being on the ship and preferred to remain behind, as living anywhere would be the same for him. Therefore, Denzō and Goemon boarded the ship, and in late October they departed from Hawaii heading south, stopped at an island called Kian, entered its harbor, and took on firewood and water. They stayed at this place for about two months.
In the first month of the year of the sheep, five years ago, they departed from the same place heading north, passed through Japan's Pacific Ocean, and in late March of the same year arrived in the waters near Matsumae to engage in whaling.
