時比同浦西山と申所ゟ出船致し同国西寺鼻と申
所を志し乗出し同日は凡八里程も参り漁致
し候処西風烈敷佐嘉と申湊口へ汐繋いたし同七
日暁六時過乗出し追風にて凡八里程参り西寺
鼻地方ゟ辰巳へ向三里程沖に而漁縄を出し申罷在
九時比縄を取揚候処魚類品々漁有之同日八ッ時頃
西風烈敷相成船を地方へ漕寄琢度相働凡壱里

右三人の申し立て
私どもが無人島へ漂流したところ、アメリカ船に救助され、各地を連れ回された後、再びアメリカ船に乗り組み、伝馬船で琉球国へ上陸したところ、当地へ送られてきたため、踏絵を命じられ、国元出船時の積み荷物および漂着の次第、かの国滞留中の始末を詳細に正直に申し上げるよう取り調べがあり、この件について申し上げます。私どもおよび伝蔵の弟十助、宇佐浦の虎右衛門、合計五人で、十一年前の丑年正月五日、伝蔵所有の船に乗り組み、白米三斗、薪、水等を積み入れ、漁業として朝四つ時頃、同じ浦の西山という所から出船し、同国の西寺鼻という所を目指して乗り出しました。同日は凡そ八里程も行き、漁をしたところ、西風が激しくなったため、佐嘉という湊口へ潮繋ぎをし、同七日明け方六時過ぎに乗り出し、追い風で凡そ八里程行き、西寺鼻地方から辰巳へ向かって三里程沖で漁縄を出しておりました。九時頃縄を引き上げたところ、魚類がいろいろと漁れており、同日八つ時頃西風が激しくなったため、船を陸地へ漕ぎ寄せようと努力し、凡そ一里程陸地近くまで漕ぎ寄せたところ、風が静かになったため、十助が

Statement of the above three men:
We drifted to a deserted island where we were rescued by an American ship and taken to various places. Later, we joined another American ship and landed in the Ryukyu Kingdom by small boat, after which we were sent to this place. We were ordered to perform the fumi-e ceremony and are being interrogated to give detailed and truthful accounts of our cargo when departing from our home province, the circumstances of our drift, and our situation during our stay in that foreign country. We hereby make this statement. We, along with Denzō's younger brother Jūsuke and Toraemon from Usaura, a total of five people, embarked eleven years ago on the fifth day of the first month of the year of the Ox on a boat owned by Denzō. We loaded three to of white rice, firewood, water, and other supplies for fishing purposes. Around four o'clock in the morning, we departed from a place called Nishiyama in the same bay, heading for a place called Saiji-hana in the same province. On that day, we traveled about eight ri and were fishing when strong westerly winds arose, so we moored at a harbor entrance called Saga. On the seventh day, after six o'clock in the morning, we set out again with favorable winds, traveled about eight ri, and cast our fishing lines about three ri offshore toward the southeast from the Saiji-hana area. Around nine o'clock, when we pulled up the lines, we had caught various kinds of fish. Around eight o'clock that day, strong westerly winds arose again, so we worked hard to row the boat toward shore.
