家の造りは四本の柱を立て、屋根は椰子の木の葉を並べたものです。その葉の長さは二、三尺ほどで幅は狭くあります。土地は砂地で山は低く、人家がまばらにあるということです。端船で漕ぎ寄せるまでで上陸しなかったため、食物その他土地の様子について詳しくは分かりません。
キアン島の様子
一、人物について：男女共に身長は普通で、顔色、瞳の色の様子など、特に日本と変わったことはありません。男性は髪を切って茶台のように作った帽子をかぶっています。役人のような者はスペインから来て住んでいるということです。これもまた髪を切って羅紗などの衣服を着ています。すべて衣服その他髪の様子はオアホ（ハワイ）と同様であるということです。
一、食物について：船中の賄いで、この所は魚類が多くあるということを聞きましたが、見かけませんでした。
一、家の造りについて：柱は堀立てにして、屋根は茅葺きまたは板葺きの所もあります。商人のような者はおらず、いずれも百姓のような家で、家の造りおよび土地の様子はすべてオアホ（ハワイ）と同様であるということです。
一、城郭および寺院のような所は見かけませんでした。
一、草木について：椰子、蜜柑の木が多くあり、その他の樹木もたくさんありましたが、はっきりと覚えていません。
一、鳥獣について：鶏、豚、牛、馬等を見かけました。
一、季候について：正月から三月頃までの間、たびたび滞船しました。
英語訳
The houses are built with four pillars, and the roofs are made by arranging coconut palm leaves. These leaves are about two to three shaku long and narrow in width. The land is sandy with low mountains, and houses are sparsely scattered. Since they only approached by small boat and did not land, they do not know the details about food and other aspects of the land.
The Condition of Kian Island
Regarding the people: Both men and women are of ordinary height, and their facial features and eye color show no particular difference from Japanese. Men cut their hair and wear hats made like tea stands. Those who appear to be officials have come from Spain to reside there. They also have cut hair and wear clothing of woolen cloth and such. All their clothing and hair styles are similar to those of Oahu (Hawaii).
Regarding food: Through ship provisions, they heard that this place has many fish, but they did not see any.
Regarding house construction: The pillars are set directly into the ground, and some roofs are thatched while others are shingled with boards. There are no merchant-type people; all are farmer-type houses, and the house construction and land conditions are all similar to Oahu (Hawaii).
No castle fortifications or temple-like structures were observed.
Regarding vegetation: There are many coconut and citrus trees, and many other trees as well, but they do not remember clearly.
Regarding birds and animals: They saw chickens, pigs, cattle, horses, and such.
Regarding the seasons: They were detained there repeatedly from around the first month to the third month.
