兩先島
先島ハ那覇港ヨリ西南ニ距ル、凡九十里許ノ海
上ヨリ起リ。西南ハ台灣島ヲ距ルコト遠カラス。
島嶼凡二十。之ヲ分チテ宮古八重山ノ二大島ト
ス。
宮古島ハ周回凡十一里餘。分チテ砂川下地平良
ノ三間切トス。戸數五千六百三十餘ニシテ。人口
二萬六千六百九十餘アリ。那覇ヲ距ル凡九十四
五里ナリ。
砂川間切西里村ハ、宮古島役所ノ在ル所ニシテ。

里間切の西山に発し、西流して兼城港に入る。長さは約二里。大田川・儀間川はこれに次ぐ長い河川である。
阿嘉村に二つの瀑布がある。一つをクヒリハンタといい、一つをヒゲ水という。皆断崖にかかる。高さは各々四丈余り。常に海風に激せられ、空際に飛騰すること十数丈。遠く望めば雲煙のようである。頗る奇観を極めている。
物産は紬、藺席が最も著名で、木材、名護蘭、海綿、穀類、魚介類などである。
両先島
先島は那覇港より西南に距ること、約九十里ほどの海上より起こり、西南は台湾島を距ることが遠くない。
島嶼は約二十。これを分けて宮古・八重山の二大島とする。
宮古島は周囲約十一里余り。分けて砂川・下地・平良の三間切とする。戸数は五千六百三十余りで、人口は二万六千六百九十余りある。那覇を距ること約九十四、五里である。
砂川間切西里村は、宮古島役所のある所で、また診察所も設けられている。

-ri magiri's western mountains and flows west into Kanegusuku Port. Its length is about two ri. The Ōta River and Gima River are the next longest rivers after this one.
In Aka Village there are two waterfalls. One is called Kuhirihanta and one is called Hige-mizu. Both hang from precipices. Each is over four jō high. They are constantly stirred by sea winds and soar into the sky for over ten jō. When viewed from afar, they appear like clouds and mist. They present an extremely spectacular sight.
Products include pongee silk and rush mats, which are most famous, as well as lumber, nago orchids, sponges, grains, fish and shellfish, etc.
The Two Sakishima Islands
The Sakishima Islands begin from about ninety ri southwest of Naha Port on the sea, and to the southwest are not far from Taiwan Island.
There are about twenty islets. These are divided into the two major islands of Miyako and Yaeyama.
Miyako Island has a circumference of about eleven ri. It is divided into the three magiri of Sunakawa, Shimoji, and Hirara. There are over 5,630 households with a population of over 26,690. It is about ninety-four to ninety-five ri from Naha.
Nishizato Village in Sunakawa magiri is where the Miyako Island government office is located, and a medical clinic is also established there.
The main island has a triangular topography, with its northwestern end protruding into the sea.
